Do they work? I am currently building a DE that my plan was to go this route for him, and see how it does.

I figured I would ask in here and see what people thought before I buy my CE.

My DE is a str build. Yes he contains the run, but he also gets his fair share of sacks and led the league in hurries as well...

Yes they are very effective. Taking on 2 blocks at the same time and making a tackle is what you'll see often. I also had the 2nd most hurries in the league. I took strength and agility to 74 (90 strength w/EQ and 84 agility w/EQ), speed to 62, tackling to 48, and vision to 48. Working on speed to 68 next.

Agility to 74
Speed to 68 or 74
Tackling to 61 or 68
Vision to 61



For CE though, would you want to be in the Containment tree or Pass Rusher Tree?

This is a pretty good plan for a boosting Containment DE. You could probably get by with going to 68 in speed and 61 in tackling. Maybe even 49 in vision. Training up jumping in confidence, especially jumping is important.
I stick to the containment tree and have used AE to pick up First Step and Tunnel Vision.

good plan. get pass rush CE. first step & shed block are that good.

Shed block is worth it regardless of containment or agility only.
In fact, with my "containment" strength based DE, I have AEQ peieces in Shed block and tunnel Vision.
Don't get me wrong - some of those containment are nice to have, but shed block works all the time...
