Anyone building them these days? Seems like speed and agility is the thing. My 2nd oldest player is a DE with strength as his primary attribute. He leads the league in forced fumbles every season and just got his first MVP award. Excellent run stopper and respectable in pass defense.

I use ST DEs. They do very well in run stopping. With the D play creator, the LBs get the sacks. I like being able to stuff runs on the edge.

I personally think every 3-4 team should have at least one DE with 110+ Strength (120+, 130+, you get the idea).

I'm building one right now. Has anyone thought about playing them at RDE instead of left? Most LTs are not very strong, and setting pass rush to power and with high strong base you could just run him over all day.

Mine is a 41 101+ str DE, and yes - gets his sacks, hurries, and kills the run anywhere in his vicinity. We play him every so often at RDE - but franky, is not as effective there. You are right in that the Tackle cannot stay up (reverse pancaked) but most runs still go towards the ROT. If you have bookend Str (both sides) with enough agility and speed (over 70 in each) - I could see that being VERYe ffective against the run, but perhaps does not get as many sacks becuase the speed is off from those true speed rusher DE's...

Though I did get more sacks than our agi speed DE, only by one.
Shortest distance between two points is stright right? So a power rusher may still get there more quickly than a guy running around his blocker.

I feel a nerf coming on regarding speed/agility DE- and if that does happen, Str truly will be king...

why would Bort do that? Speedier DEs finally had a good season this year, and by good I mean, tolerable.

Just a gut fealing. Seeing speed guys (agility) with 80+ sacks seems a little crazy to me. But of course, some of that is against peewee teams (way out levelled).

Perhaps nothing will be done - but man - agility to me right now seems like the end all be all as a D lineman to tear it up. Breaking tackles everywhere, jumping over 2 or more players to get into the backfield, etc.

Everything is always in a state of flux right?
