Disclaimer: I have guys on the Shockers. And have for some time.

First of all ... Those of you who think the Shockers GMs (the real ones, not the pity ones like me) are classy don't know the half of it. These guys are impressive.

Secondly ... I half agree with the reasoning above, as well as the fact this season's Shockers pretty much played all comers.

The game is still full of luck and with so many 'comeback' triggers ... which sometimes fail ... the losses can get out of hand. So one beat down really means very little IMO. It's a loss, for sure, but the number of points is meaningless.

That being said, I was still gameplanning in season 6 and I recall looking over the Nighthawks and thinking: no fucking way.

If you were gameplanning in the US Pro in s6 and thought you had a shadow of a chance vs. the Nighthawks, then you were kidding yourself. I believe many teams out there had some belief they could topple this season's Shockers. A few almost did and Bonn did. This doesn't mean the Nighthawks were better, but IMO the Nighthawks were more of a juggernaut. Still, I wonder if they could have beaten all the top teams in four tourneys without a bad game. And I do recall they had lots of players from the same agent on the team. (Is this true?)

Different sim. Less complicated. Before a few nerfs. But none of that matters, since we aren't talking s6 nighthawks vs. s10 shockers, but s6 nighthawks vs. all other teams and s10 shockers vs. all other teams.

Miken says 1a and 1b, but I see it more as ... best orange and best apple.

All that being said: no 'best team ever thread' could disregard either team.

Thrilled to have been part of this.

Great game MEM. Arguably the best title game ever. Had my heart racing.

See you next season.

Pretty much agree with everything said as a member of the Shockers. I tend to think it is non-comparable to say Nighthawks vs. Shockers. Different gameplanning, sim, and opponents. Everyone will have their opinion, just to be in the discussion is an honor for us Shockers. TBH, my opinion is that the Nighthawks were more dominant in their league and the way they won games, but I think S10 Shockers had simply the single most successful season in GLB history.

For the life of me I can't wrap my head around Bonn, the #3 team in the world trouncing the current #1 and not moving to #1, when said #1 defeats #2 the next day.

Yes, they had a great season. Yes, the won two world tournaments, and therein lies there best case. Unfortunately for Bonn, their two losses pulled them out of these tournaments before they could face the likes of MEM, Drygerian, and Shockers.

Its the timing of the loss to Bonn that makes me question the authenticity of a #1 ranking. Their season was dominant, they have the fortune to play in the league that gives them a high strength of schedule and they stood up to it. The only question they left remaining was could they beat Bonn, the #2 team in the world.

Well Bonn comes in and runs up 41 straight unanswered points on them. Can you get anymore convincing then that? You can't make excuses for the loss when its a demolition. Bonns losses on the other hand are extremely thin. Razor thin.

Mentorgate. nuf said.

A failed 4th and inches within field goal range with 1:00 on the clock in the fourth quarter leaves Bonn 2 points short. Thin. Razor thin.

What happened to settle it on the field?
What happened to last man standing?
The Vikings went 15-1 in 1998 and were the best team in the world, right? The Patriots went 18-0 in 2008 and were the best team ever, right?

Actually, the 13-7 Giants are the champs of 2008.

The 2 loss Bonn Dynamo are the champs of Season 10. Cry about the choke job. Cry about the mistaken gameplan(actually Bonn switched up there offense), cry about whatever you like, but don't blame Bonn, and don't punish them for playing who was on their schedule (nothing to sneeze at anyhow). No, they didn't get through perfect, but neither did Cincy.

In that case, look at what was settled on the field.
41 straight points says all you need to know. If Bonn wasn't legit, could their defense stop Cincy long enough to even do that?

I've never seen a run like that againt the #1 team in GLB. Leaves a little doubht doesn't it?
