Sounds like it should allow the DE to throw off blockers, especially if having high strength. Not sure I notice it personally. My DE stands his ground against blockers, does not get moved too often, but in terms of throwing his blockers around like rag dolls, I don't notice it. His strength is over 100, so I doubt it is becuase he is too weak.

Thoughts on the SA and if effective?

I read through some old posts, sounds like not too much at those times. Any newer insight from less than a month ago?

Nothing to add I'm afraid. I have a DE that found a +3 strength, +1 strong base AEQ. I'm building it up but he's more of an agility built. Looks great when it triggers but that tends to only happen against lower level OTs.

I've got a piece that currently has "+5 strength, +3 Strong Base SA, Break block chance +15%." Yes, it has a Break Block change, which is kick ass... unfortunately I really dont think I'm proud of my DE's productivity:

HOWEVER, he does get a decent number of hurries. He got 3 in our last game, albeit the team had a mediocre record:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=601665&pbp_id=12621772 (@ LDE vs. lvl 54 ROT - pushes both HB and ROT?)
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=601665&pbp_id=12622615 (@ RDE)
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=601665&pbp_id=12623893 (@ RDE vs. lvl 56 LOT - breaks LOT?)

I dont think strength-based DE's w/ Strong Base are great for sacks; however, they're great for hurries because they collapse the pocket by pushing the defender/s into the QB. This makes the QB paranoid, forcing the throw. It works better when the strength DE is a 2nd stringer, since he will be paired against weaker leveled and or exhausted players.

So to answer your question, yea I think it works, but dont expect sacks with them. Expect hurries.

Edit: And no I never read prior topics on the SA. The above is just my first-hand experience with it.

Great points ReMeDy. My DE has continuosly been in the hunt for hurry leader. This season already has well over 50 hurries. Never thought much behind the Strong Base being the reason but your statements do make sense.
Another nice thing, read into this as you see fit - but he also is getting more and more PD. Perhaps becuase he is not trying to run around the blocker every time, but through (I go the 50-50 route when pass rushing) and his jumping is near 40 he is able to get up there nad knock down the pass at the line.

I think I will wait a bit to roll for AEQ again - but in everything I am hearing it sounds like the best all-around SAs are STILL shed blcoks and TV regardless if a run or pass focused DE.

Seconded.
It even sucks for most DT's.
All it really does is move the max-pushback-distance up a bit. Bort has said this somewhere.
With the weight/strength of Oline is unlikeley your player is pushing them back anyway and even then you're probably not near the max.
