1. Don't assign any sp to SAs early. (I say wait until at least 32 and preferably 40)
2. You hold sps while training and only spend them when it helps you max sp because of higher value of sp from level up bonuses and training.

I have heard that it is better to boost at the end of a season so your levels stay low for longer. any truth to this?

Well what exactly do you want from your D.T.
You want a NT or a pass rusher?
I can write up a slow build strategy based off what you want from him.
Or what exactly are you inquiring to slow build?

My guy is a DE and is the first player I have created. I am just not getting any production out of him. It is odd. I am thinking of starting a new DE and am considering this Slow Build thing. Just trying to figure out what it's about and why it is beneficial.

The benefits
hitting caps at lower levels and taking advantage of the level up gains.
training attributes up before assigning sp to take advantage of the higher training values.
If you get say speed up to 48 at level 3, then at level 4 that .5 you get from auto level gains is worth 1 sp you would have to spend later. If you are at 68 at level 11, then the .5 you get is worth 2 sp you would have to spend later.
Slowbuilding is sacrificing performance early in career for better performance later.
