I have a level 24DE with the following stats:
Strength: 51.14
Speed: 87.14
Agility: 68.14

I spent enough on SA's to get TV to 2 (3 with AEQ). Currently I get about 4 hurries for every 1 sack. Is there something I can do to lower that ratio a bit or is this about where I should be?

The answer is yes and no.

Yes that the better build your DE is, obviously the better chances it has to get a sack.
No that the sack is not just about what your DE does, but what the opposing QB does as well. Remember GLB has a QB check vision roll that decides whether the QB dumps the ball (hurry) or gets deck (sack).

The good news is Bort has nerf QB check vision a bit last season and increase pro-DE settings just a bit too.

But anyway, you see the complication of the situation.

Now, looking at your numbers (without the others), I would say you need to get your agility up.

Agility should be addressed next. It can help with closing speed.
Personally i'm not a big fan of tackling for RDEs, but it can increase your tackling radius and help turn some hurries into sacks

I've swapped out equipment to bring my AGI up quite a bit. It is sitting at around 82 along with speed at 82 (after eq change). Thanks for the advice BiggerBlue and circa62.

noooooo, if you agility insn't at the third cap yet, do that, then get vision up to 1st cap.

Maybe a little jumping and tackling couldn't hurt. It could increase your tackling range or the quality of your tackle rolls. I think people might be underestimating how much Turn Shoulder effects sacks and hurries. I know looking at the dots might not be that precise as far as player placement goes, but there are times you'll see somebody get a sack from really far away and other times you have to be right on him. I think turn shoulder might be part of that "make a tackle on the QB from a distance" check.

I have already read Bort mentioning in a thread (can't find it now) that tackling radius has NOTHING to do with your sack calculations. He designed sack/tackle differently. Thought tackling radius does have you tackle RBs running away from you.

Good to know. I wish I could see those words in the context they were put out there. Not questioning your reading comprehension or anything, but there is a lot of ambiguity in some of his statements which leads people to theorize what his posts really mean. I have an entire SA theory based soley on one of his 3 word answers, haha. So far it seems pretty solid though

What needs to be introduced is an automated way for Bort's posts to be put into a log. That way all of Bort's hidden important comments can be found by everyone. I don't think it would be that hard if he would just add a little extra to these forums.

How would I do it?

Add a "flag as important game info" button to his posts. Kind of like a thumbs up/thumbs down vote on his posts. Anything with a net 50 votes can be thrown to a Bort's comments on the Sim engine forum. You could have a moderator for that forum, or just leave it as a big unsorted mass, but at least they would be somewhere easier to find. The ability to vote on his posts would be one way to keep the unimportant shit out of that forum.
