I was/am concerned that my level 31 Kicker wasnt making a lot of Field Goals over 50 yards.

So I looked at all the level 31 free agent kickers (there were a lot) that met 3 criteria (there were only 6):
Had attempted over 10 FGs over 50 yards
Had open builds.
Had made at least 1/4 of thier attempts.

The reason for this was to see if there was any attribute that I could add to to imporve my chances. I thought it might be agility at first.

First set of numbers bolded is me, 2nd is the average of the 6 FAs I could find that met my criteria.

STR 49.59 61.01
SPD 16.59 21.49
AGI 25.59 26.76
JMP 14.59 16.49
STA 13 17.34
VIS 58.59 53.96
CON 74.12 63.10
KIK 109.12 90.49

+50 yard stats
Hit 4.00 4.85
Attempts 17.00 17.14
Hit % 23% 28%

All the other kickers had at least 5 in Big boot and automatic.

Overall I wasn't too far off the other builds. But the ones with the best percentage had more strength.
The FA kickers also had at least 5 points into Big Boot, and 5 points into Automatic.
I did NOT look at kickoffs, FGs less the 50 yards, or Extra Points.

I concluded from this analysis that I need to work on Strength before Agility.

Also, if I ever build another kicker, I would get strength capped earlier, maybe 1st Cap Kicking, Confidence, Vision and Strength, then 2nd Cap Kicking, Confidence, Vision, then 3rd Cap Kicking, Confidence, then 4th Cap Kicking, then start on the SAs.

Just throwing some stuff out there for discussion!

Why waste so much in natural level gains?

+1

You have plenty of time to bring Strength to the 60-cap. It's no surprise that higher Strength helps you kick longer field goals, but it's not a priority imo unless you're building a player for instant results, which is pretty rare these days.

point taken. I don't plan on building another kicker anytime soon, I will have forgotten all this crap by that time anyway. Plus the game will have changed.

But anywho, thanks for derailing my attempt to get a whole bunch of crappy kickers built. I was going to be KING, and it would have worked too, if it wasnt for you meddling kids.

I don't have a Kicker, but looking at the info you presented, your Strength is about 25% lower than the average, but your Speed and Stamina are about 30% and 33% lower. Both of those should be easy enough to improve through training, and if your assumptions are right, will pay off much quickly too.

strength will make long FGs better

but, when you get higher level, its not important. with 120ish kicking you will make the distance fine. agi and vis will be better accuracy gains

in short, i wouldnt get hung up on str too early. kicking > conf > vis = str > agi. IMO

str is mostly for huge kickoffs

also, a sample size of 6 is extremely small, you cant really come to any solid conclusion
