People make the mistake of thinking that strength is the most important attribute to a blocking FB, it is NOT. Speed is. FBs with 90-100+ speed(with 60-70 agility) are the best blockers and can easily get away with 65-70 strength and 60 blocking. Speed Blocking FBs are perfect for leading all types of HBs, they get to the 2nd level and block the LBs on inside runs opening up holes(instead of the HB running by them) and on pitches and outside runs, can take out the FS/SS, OLB or CB. They also are great for FB outside runs, have them soft cap carrying and they are a great change of pace for a few carries a game because the team never expects it.

This would be my ideal FB(around level 40-50):
100 Speed
75 agility
75 strength
60 blocking
55 carrying
55 vision
50 catching
50 stamina

That FB is a great lead blocker, good receiver out of the backfield and is great for surprising another team with a FB run.

You can't call that a blocking FB, though. That's a balanced FB.

Impossible to get anywhere near that at 40, and probably nowhere near at 50. I'd be tempted to go closer to 100 speed, 75 blocking, 75 strength, 68 agility, 60 vision at around 50, and then think about varying the build to run/receive.

Ok and you can get tons of speed and STILL have all those wonderful str and blocking stats to boot. What's your point?

Missing 6 str because I picked up these wonderfully beautiful SA's now though. Upgrading one shortly!

Probably but that's what I love. And the secondary skills might not be that why at that point.

True but that is one of the best blocking FBs you can ask for.

BLOCKING FBs don't need carrying and catching if all they ever do is block. Those SPs (IMO) would be better off getting more things wrapped up to make him a more efficient blocker, such as more vision, higher SAs, or even confidence before investing points in carrying...

If you're going to hit a niche with a player, then hit it and hit it hard don't hit it 70% and waste a good 6-7 levels of SPs on those two things.

No blocking FB ever needs 100 speed. That's ridiculous.

No, that's GLB. What blocking FBs don't need is 90 strength and 90 blocking because they don't need to pancake DLs, FBs jobs are to get to the 2nd level and block the LBs and DBs. Slow FBs cannot do that, the fast ones can do that for all types of RBs and won't get outrun by the speed HBs.

A 70 speed fb can beat any hb to the block with Outside blocker or Lead block.

Mid 70s-80s is what a FB needs in most cases. On inside plays, you need to get to the hole and hit the LB. 75ish speed with good agility gets you there. On outside players, you've pumped outside blocker, so your speed is approaching 100 often, so outruning the HB isn't an issue. 100 speed on a fullback means you need to redo your EQ a bit.

Jrry, Potts, it's all situational.

The speed of your FB will depend on how much the HB behind him has.
