I would. Safeties have to cover a lot of area pretty fast. The sooner you can get somewhere the better. But if you're thinking short term... then no.

It isn't a matter of short term or long term for a safety. It is a matter of trade-offs--it isn't as if you ever run out of worthy places to put your SPs. Don't get me wrong, I think a case could be made for a safety going to 73 or 77 speed...I just think it would have to be a carefully thought-out build playing in a specific kind of defensive scheme in order to truly take advantage of it.

I don't think you need any specific scheme to take advantage of a fast player. Fast and agile players work in any defensive scheme. Slow players are the ones who have to be bottlenecked into schemes. If you plan it out right you can easily have 77+ natural speed, 68+ agility and even 60+ vision by your late 20's.

I think those numbers are a little off that's more realistic by around lvl 32
well I have natural 75.2 spd on my lvl 14 safety right now. Can easily get something close to that by my late 20's.

At roughly lvl 21... that'll be a natural speed of 78
and without even including my training... I'll have agility at least 2 capped. So I don't see how it's not possible.
Include another training session and the auto level gains that although are decreased are still decent after that... you could easily get that by then. You have to be smart about it... but it's possible.

Nice avatar....
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1089674 - lvl 28 - 75 speed 62 agil 54 vision

this will substantiate what is more realistically possible. some atty's have training bar not rolled over yet as well....

Well, that kicks ass. I'm sold.

But we're not talking about the difference between fast and slow players. We're talking about the end game difference between, say, 105 and 115 speed. I submit that there are few defenses/plays in which that is going to make the difference. Meanwhile, you're 20 points behind in an attribute like strength, tackling, or perhaps you could have invested those 40 or 50 SPs in to SAs like Super Vision, Change Direction, Monster Hit, or Closing Speed.

I think taking Speed to 68 right off the bat and letting natural gains bring it up to the mid-70s is the best option for most safeties. No need to use SPs to push it to 73 or 77, imo.

I think anyone that goes for the 4th cap isn't being fair on their current team. Call me old fashioned but I like to win from the start and I want to perform for my current owners as best as I can. I already feel bad about having 3rd capped speed, because at the moment my dude is pretty useless and the team will have to carry his arse for at leat 4-5 levels. If I had of gone for the 4th cap then they'd have to carry me next season as well, hence why I don't feel its fair.
