I know that there were some people that were swearing by Strong Base being great for pass rushing, but I don't know how those tests went...

I just rolled a +2 agility strong base piece and was wondering its value. Any comments on strong base being good for pass rushing?

Not good.

My DE has 90 natural strength (120 with euipment) and 10 levels of Strong Base. Plus 15 levels of pass rusher, so on 3rd downs, he should have an effective 147ish strength. I have seen him go against LT's with 60 strength, and get completely shut out. I doubt if there has been a bigger mismatch in the entire game, with any attribute, much less what should be a primary one.

Strength just isn't effective, and by extension a SA that relies almost 100% on strength isn't effective.

with +2 agility, i like that piece depending on the build of the DE

Strong base is not amazing for pass rushing.

Not to mention for a D.E. there are 4 others worth focusing on over it.

+2 agility + Strong Base makes it a good AEQ.

Keep it until you get +2 attribute + FS or TV

It's not bad. Edonidd, try splitting some gear over to agility and you will have a lot more success with that build I suspect...

My DT has had a high strong base and 115+ str for a while now, and even with 15 pass rusher I've never noticed any instances of him just plowing someone over. He still only gets by people when his agility happens to kick in.

it's not worth spending points on tbh.

I have no idea what level of strength is necessary for Strong Base to really start firing, but it's not reachable in GLB. It's gotta be like 250 or something. . . *shrug*

More like 70+ tbh.

I had a +4 Strong Base piece to take it from 6 to 10 and it didn't make any difference. The only time I've seen a bull rush push someone back is when the tactic was first added in Season 4 (pre-season and 1 or 2 regular season games). At that point I think there were some changes made to help OL as well as some pass rush pathing changes, and somewhere in that time it stopped working.

Not a terribly effective example, but that's what it looks like. He doesn't have enough speed/first step to really use it effectively.

He has 11 in it, you can search his plays to get a better feel for it if you are so inclined. Works better for DT in my experience.

Pretty sure the it's triggering for the RDE on this play. You can clearly see the LT being pushed out of the way.

Much better for a DT.

I am inclined to believe it works better with higher agl, then all out str.

Break Through works wonders too, and gets really funky when its super high with high str.
