My team has been a winner every season. Suddenly, this season we are getting run over, can't stop anyone and can't generate any offense. I don't understand what has changed between last season and this season.

Here's my teams link. If anyone would like to help me solve this mystery, take a look at our current season vs previous seasons and let me know if you can provide some insight. I'm completely frustrated at this point.

Disclaimer: There are exceptions to everything in this game and we all have to find what works best for our players and teams. You may already know all this but here it goes.

I didn't spend a lot of time looking at games or anything but here a a couple of observations without seeing builds. Just looking at scouting bars. I have recently been reading a lot in the forums and there are a lot of comments about builds and how bad builds are usually the problem.

1. Not the sole reason for you team's problem but the RDE has only 2 tackles in 10 games. DEs don't get a lot of tackles usually but only 2 should tell you it's his build. Probably built for speed and agility (but not enough) and no strength. He is getting pancaked a lot too. In the 2 games you won he got pancaked 26 times. Lower strength guys are gonna get pancaked but I think he is too weak. For a lvl 55 DE he has no dark green in his scouting bars. (I have retired 2 DEs. The first one was bad and the second was better but not dominate.)

For all the 50+ level guys on the team there aren't a lot of Dark Green scouting bars(mainly defensive players). That's not everything of course but it leads back to the build issue. I have seen better scouting bars on players in their 40s than some of the 50s you have.(Example: RDE) Agents are building better players now too. We have learned a lot about how to build players since this game started and there are different ways to do it but few people knew what they were doing a year ago+ when this game started and most of your players were built then. (Seasons 1 and 2).

2. Other builds are probably questionable as well. Check and see if there are a lot of players with equipment spread out over numerous attributes. They should focus EQ in 1,2, and not more than three - and three not being recommended too much. By doing that you make a player real strong, real fast or real agile. They become exceptional at something while you build other attributes. The more spread out they get the less difference it makes. Also frees up skill points for other attributes.

3. Same with VAs - don't spread them out focus until you max them out at 15. 3 points in 5 VAs doesn't really help. 15 in one that is proven. Bruiser and Short Yardage Monster for running backs are two.

4. Looks like you are in a pretty competitive league. I have 2 CPU teams and 2 gutted teams in SA AA - we have it a little easier this season.

5. Do your OTs have enough agility? Getting some sacks on your QB. Moderate strength and high agility for OTs to offset the speedy DEs.

6. Strength has gotten more important on defense. Power backs are having success again this season if they are using SAs and VAs in certain abilities like Power Thru, Stiff Arm, Bruiser, SYM, etc. If your LBs are built for speed they are going to miss more tackles. Agility is always important. LB in the 50s should easily be in the 60s for agility and vision.

7. I think the good teams have to really keep up with player builds and attributes by posting in the forums and giving and getting feedback. If your agents aren't active like that it will hinder the team.

8. Are you blitzing too much, not enough? If you do blitz are you getting burned on the play because you blitzed the SS but he should have been covering the TE or HB, etc?

9. If you are having trouble running the ball try short HB passes. Good teams will figure it out eventually so then you will need to change your tactics.

10. Make sure the OC and QB are on the same page. If tactics are to throw the ball short but the QB is focused on long passes that will hurt performance. Most QBs are pocket passers and don't need to scramble - from what I have seen they usually get sacked. Most NTs and DTs are faster than QBs. Our QB has better than average QB speed but got sacked more because he had been set to scramble.

Recently read where it is better to not have the QB choose preferred targets in general. Completion percentage will go up 5-8% if he isn't forcing the ball to a favorite player. Use it if you know you have a solid mismatch.

1. Good builds are important, if not paramount.
2. Communication between agents and GMs, OC, and DC is what good teams do.
3. Play to your strengths and your opponents weaknesses. Scout them. If you aren't getting results with blitzing, find what you players can do well by looking at their builds. Are they low strength, high vision and agility? Same on offense.
4. Read the forums - lots of info out there.

At least you have the rest of the season to test different settings and win a few games. Best of Luck.

yup, good post.

we had a competitive team a few seasons ago and ran into the same thing.
part of it came back to scouting and defensive AI, and the rest was bad builds.\ and poor offensive planning.

too many factors involved but not that hard to really look at if you know where to look.

Thanks for the input mounsen. Both my DE's are speed rushers with the RDE having low strength. My NT and DT are monsters though with over 110 strength on each. Can't figure out why their getting pushed back. I agree that some of our builds need improved but now a day's things that worked last season aren't working this season.

It doesn't seem to matter if we blitz or not, we're still getting burned. Our LB's have over 60 vision and are standing stock-still on play after play. Good point on the VA's. We weren't real sure how much those mattered until this season and now it seems that there are more and more power backs that run over defenses where they didn't in previous years.

I think our biggest problem is that our game planning isn't keeping up with the changes in the sim. Even so, we should not be getting blown out by teams that we beat or played close last season.

Didn't help us much in today's game. Thanks for pointing out the updates though.
