Build is open:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1123469

The player is a slow-build and the team isn't trying to compete until maybe next season. I took KICK to the 6:1 cap before moving to CONF. CONF is now between the 5:1 and 6:1 cap.

I intended to leave CONF at the 5:1 cap and move on to VIS (with CONF basically staying in the low 80's for most of his career). However, after looking at some builds and performance, I'm starting to think that the upper 80's might be better, meaning that I'd take CONF to the 6:1 cap before moving to VIS.

So what do you guys think? Should I take CONF to 6:1 or leave it as is and move on?

I still have 3 boosts and some SP in the bank, so I should be able to take CONF to the 6:1 cap, then get VIS to the 3:1 cap by the end of the season. My thought is that a kicker with 80 CONF, 112 KICK, 60 VIS should be good enough. This compares to 77 CONF, 112 KICK, 67 VIS.

I'm not too worried about STR after looking at some build's performance. After VIS hits 67, I'll deal with STR and SA's.

You are vastly underestimating how much confidence has to gain in your career. You'll push 90 easily if you stop right now. I think you can move on at this point, spending 5:1 on confidence is a lot

Conf also can be received in VA's at .5% boost a point. For kickers and punters, that's a far better deal than the .3% we get for kick/punt and its a primary attribute, unlike vision which is secondary. I don't think going 5:1 base is that bad of a play if he has time to ride out pushing vision and str.

He's already at 5:1. I'd be pushing to 6:1.

If you keep going with confidence it's going to take forever to get 61 str/vis and SAs.

Plus IMO the point of slow building is to take advantage of gains so you don't HAVE to spend such extraordinary amounts of SP in things. Spending 5:1 on confidence for a punter just doesn't seem right to me, you'll already have 90.

The point of slow building is to get your skills as high as possible so that the auto-level improvements count for more. For example, my level K now gets auto-level improvements in the 11:1 SP range for kicking. If I built him conventionally, he'd probably be in the 4:1 range.

My concern with stopping CONF at the 5:1 cap is that I'll run out of things to pump later. Long term, would you rather have a guy with a base (excluding equipment and VAs) of 100 KICK, 90 CONF, 70 VIS, 70 STR, 48 AGL or 100 KICK, 85 CONF, 70 VIS, 70 STR, 60 AGL?

I'd rather have 22 agility over 5 confidence at that point.

By the time you get those stats your kicker will be declining. Slow building is pointless if it only starts to pay off 8 seasons in.

I'm projecting to hit those stats by his 6th season. The Kick / Conf / Vis should be nearly there before next season, and it'll just be STR and AGL that need to be worked.
