With a USAPL record of 29-9, our fan support has steadly dropped. To me, that seems counter-intuitive. We were told in Season 8 that we shouldn't expect VA resets anymore. Then we get 13,000 resets in Season 9. Guess what? Everyone pretty much expects a reset in Season 10. If it doesn't happen, people are going to be pissed. What about the teams who fold and the players who VA spec'd the way that team wanted, aren't they deserving of a VA reset?
One simple fix to finances and the bullshit that goes along with gutting teams is to tie the equipment to the team. If Lincoln buys a +8 piece of EQ, that piece belongs to the organization. If the player leaves the organization to go play in Oceania A, he'll need to get the new equipment from his new team. Right now, EQ is the #1 money sinkhole in the game and that's stupid. As a team owner, I should be in control of the equipment that I have purchased and Lincoln's players should be paid enough salary to train and "do something". Individual players should be responsible/maintain control of their own AEQ.
Once upon a time, Bort talked about all these FAME unlockable activities for the players. Maybe for $XXX, a player could buy a +1 temp upgrade to an attribute or for $XXX a player could buy a temp upgrade to an SA. Maybe as a team owner, I should be able to buy an upgrade for my stadium to give a bonus to something. Maybe in Season 11, I'll get some actual advantage to playing a home game?
Sadly, this game feels more like a MMO than football. It has become more about effectively gaming the system than enjoying the game. Teams are now gameplanning to avoid taking a 14 point lead -- that's ridiculous. Big Heart VA is dumber than a box of rocks with all the smart rocks taken from the box. Do I blame anyone for using it? Not at all --- the Strong I Slam debacle from last season changed my mind about blaming the player base for exploiting overpowered crap.
Wipe VA's and fix some of the glaring core issues that have existed since inception. The ONLY reason I'm still playing GLB is because of the guys on my team who make it fun in spite of the BS.
Make the game entertaining because its more like football. I could be wrong but with thousands of RPG's on the market, I'm guessing football is the variable that attracted most of us (although I'll admit some people might have a dot fetish). Make the FOOTBALL part of the game better.
