I intended on doing a write up before Week 2, but I didn't have internet as I moved into a new place. The comcast guy came today and now I'm all set to go
Week 3 Rankings:
1.) Berwick Dawgs: As predicted in the pre-season, Berwick has come out swinging. They represented the EC strongly in Week 1 when they took out Western Conference foe Des Moines. Berwick is living up to the hype. This week, however, Berwick faces their toughest test yet: Everybody's favorite dark horse, the also undefeated Raleigh Avengers.
2.) Deimon Devil Bats: Deimon, another powerhouse of the Eastern conference, beat a fairly good French Goat Licks team to start the season. At 2-0, Deimon is living up to the preseason hype. This week, they face a dangerous team in F.C. Hezbollah.
3.) Crooklyn Bombers: We knew the Bombers were going to be a good team coming into the season, but they have looked more impressive than we had them on paper. In Week 2, they took a good Michigan team and just destroyed them. Critics are trying to say that Michigan isn't the team they thought they were, but Crooklyn looks to prove just how good they are against the Warriors of New Sejs.
4.) Newark Carjackers: Prior to the season, Newark was considered to be a good team that was being held back by it's defense. Newark took that as an invitation to go out and take their frustrations out on a top team in Herne Bay. That impressive victory sent them shooting up the rankings and are now a very dangerous wildcard in the EC.
5.) New York Avengers: New York has started out 2-0 as expected. As of this point, their HB is leading the EC MVP voting. If Legs keeps playing like this, New York might be able to overcome some tough games coming up.
6.) Raleigh Avengers: The dark horse is undefeated and right where they want to be... staring down the fiercest pitbull on the block. While the world seems to be banking on Berwick to take out the Raleigh Avengers, there is a buzz spreading throughout North Carolina. As if the devoted fans know something we don't, they don't only think Raleigh has a chance to win... They think Raleigh is going to win.
7.) Herne Bay Wildcats: Wildcats fans everywhere were shocked when their predicted Top 5 team got knocked out by upstart Newark. The Wildcats team has sworn revenge, and are looking to reclaim their footing in the uneasy EC by taking out another team that has something to prove. Michigan.
8.) Michigan Rage: Crooklyn was a good team and everybody knew they were a Top 5 team, so Michigan gets some credit. However, the way they lost has really raised some eyebrows. If Michigan can put away the Wildcats, then they'll be back on track.
9.) FC Hezbollah: At 1-1, Hezbollah is trying to find some consistency in their tough opening schedule. They are scrappy and have a fighter's punch that can win them some close games, but FC has to step up and answer the call when a tough team comes knocking. They got into a shootout with Raleigh and lost, and they can't afford to give up as many points to Deimon.
10.) New Sejs Warriors: New Sejs is in the middle of the pack at 1-1. The Warriors are hanging with some tough teams in the conference, and need to put some wins together to make a sharp statement.
11.) Miragliano CowBoyz: Miragliano played well in their season-opening win, but lost last week putting them at 1-1. The CowBoyz need to beat Sin City if they don't want to fall into a downward spiral.
12.) Daytona Stoners: Daytona did not allow a loss in Week 1 to affect them in Week 2. Coming off a big win, the Stoners look to capitlize and go over .500.
13.) Fort Lee Bridgemen: Fort Lee is playing surprisingly well for a team predicted to finish dead last in the tough EC. The Bridgemen need to keep the up-tempo attitude going if they want to prove the doubters wrong.
14.) Sin City Assassins: Starting at 0-2, Sin City can't let a tough early schedule get them down. They know they are better than 0-2, so watch out for them to prove it against the CowBoyz.
15.) Denver_ Broncos: The Broncos have some playmakers, but the mistakes and inconsistencies of some of their younger players have costed them two games so far. Looking for revenge, Denver is a dangerous team to play right now.
16.) Roanoke Rebels: A brutal early season schedule only gets harder this week against the New York Avengers. If the Rebels want to right the ship, they need to rely less on their big guns and get some roleplayers involved.
Game of the Week:
Undefeated powerhouse Berwick travels to Raleigh, NC to play the upset-minded Avengers. The pony of the show faces the dark horse. Who comes out on top?
Note:
A really intriguing game will be Michigan and Herne Bay. Herne Bay was shocked last week, and Michigan is a better team than the one that showed up against Newark. Both teams want to prove their playoff contenders. Who wants it more?
