I have read this http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=771413&page=1,the beginning offensive AI guide, but I am still a little confused.
His examples are all down specific. I am trying to set it up for multiple plays and yardage. And I am probably both thinking too much, and trying to do too much.
So anyway, if my input is "backed up at own goalline":
Between GL and 3 yrds - downs 1 to 3
Between 1 + 8 yrds to first down
My output is:
100% inside run
My other input is "backed up at own goalline"
Btwn GL and 3 yrds - downs 3 to 3
Between 5 +20 yards (extreme case, I know) to first down
My output is:
30% outside run
70% short pass
My question is - am I setting this up right? My goal is that when backed up, on 1st thru 3rd down, to mainly run in this situation. But on third, when the distance to the first down is longer, to pass more often than run, and to have a different running play.
Will these override each other or will it just run up the middle because of the yardage to first down difference?
Is there an easier way to do this?
Thanks in advance for any responses.
