I realize that blocking TE's are not sexy or real popular, but they are needed (I hope). How do you build a blocking TE? Is it built like a center, a guard or a tackle? Is a strict blocking TE built different than any of the other O-Line members? Is it a strength, blocking and agility pump fest?

Do blocking TE's with 100+ strength ever actually break tackles on the rare occasion they catch a pass?

That pretty much sums it up.

And if you're going to be a blocking TE, your OC should not ever have you going out for a pass, at least in this stage of the game. That said, there's more to breaking tackles than strength alone.

Thanks. W/o a search, it's tough to find anything here. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I diagree with a blocking TE not going out on pass routes. There is nothing better than my slow TE on a route, drawing the SS and LOLB into double coverage, close to the LOS, while our speed WR breaks free on single coverage against a CB.

There are some times where having a slower TE would be nice, but other than that, not really.
