+2 Vision, +2% avoid fake

Is that decent for a level 18, or should i keep looking?

It's not bad. Avoid Fake works against both Pump Fakes and running fakes, so it's a decent pass coverage piece.

On the other hand, the general advice seems to be to hold out for a +3 stat/+1 SA or +3 stat/+5% piece.

It's not possible to get those until level 30 though, right?

Solution: Don't shop at level 18 and wait until level 30-35 to start rolling for good pieces of gear. Depending on offseason lengths, you'll have 50-60 Bonus Tokens and can fully upgrade two pieces, so you can take some time then to roll good equipment. Training gains won't be as good, either, so you'll be maximizing your training gains. For a coverage LOLB, I'd say the best possible roll would be a +3 Speed, +1 Shutdown Coverage, although anything with Shutdown Coverage would probably do.

It's possible long before then. Not likely, mind, but possible. Hell, it's not likely even at 50. I rarely get +3 stat +%/SA gear on any of my 50/near-50 players.
