I just created this lb, with the hopes of slowbuilding him into a run-stopping mlb in a couple seasons. I've heard some different approaches to building a mlb, one being to raise speed and agility as quickly as possible for the purpose of pursuit of the ballcarrier, but another says to raise strength and tackling to take on power backs coming through the middle. I guess whichever route I take, vision should come next to see the play developing, but should I go for the sure-tackler (strength/tackling) build or the chase-down (speed/agility) build? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I like the Strength Agility combo
Strength - Tackling combo is great if you are already in the hole
Speed - Agility is great for stopping outside runs
Strength - Agility is great for stopping runs between the tackles
You get enough strength to not get pancaked by an O-Lineman, and enough agility to move around inside the tackle box, and the agility is great in allowing you to shed blocks

The high strength allows you to take on power backs, and the high agility allows you to take on elusive backs. So unlike the two builds you mentioned, this build is solid against both types of RBs.

Vision would be 3rd priority, and Speed/Tackling in 4th.

what would have made it better? more speed, strength and vision with less stamina? basically when i was rolling i was looking at height and weight with as few points wasted on punting, kicking, throwing, etc.

For a run stuffing LB your most important attributes in this order are:

Speed > Tackling > Strength > Agility > Confidence > Stamina > Vision > Hard Hitter SAs > Jumping

i kind of like that strength/ agility approach with an MLB. u dont quite need as much speed to get to the outside, b/c hopefully ur team has some competent OLB's. also, more times than not it is the powerback or fullback that is rushing up the gut, so fairly high strength is a necessity. agility will help in getting in better position to make the tackle and use ur speed to its fullest potential in getting in between the tackles and clogging up holes. it will also helping in getting around the O-line.

i would say agility 68>speed61>str61>tackling49>vision49>stamina40>confidence40>hard hitter>jumping40 then go from there.

I'm thinking about building a LB for next season that would be something like
Agility 61-Speed 48-Vision 48-Speed 61-Tackling 48-Vision 61
What do you think of that for a short term plan? Cap strength after, or 2nd cap tackling and set to Balanced?

imo tackling is more important than strength. Strength for MLBs is vastly overrated as far as I'm concerned. I'd put agility, vision, and tackling in front of strength. Although I'd eventually want all to get to the 61 cap.
