How is Baton Rouge the best team?

I think it's taken straight from an excel spreadsheet. Plug the numbers in and the spreadsheet does the rest.

As for Baton Rouge being #1...well...guess we'll find out on Tuesday.

Predictions for Week 4

Oregon Orangutans vs Nashville Isotopes
......Oregon will prove too tough for the hapless Isotopes, look for Oregon to throw upwards of 150 on the Isotopes, along with .......yesterday's dinner.

Wolverhampton Wolverines vs Fresno Anarchs
......To err is human, for one of these teams to win the championship would be devine (intervention). I look for .......Wolverhampton to win by a field goal or less.

Phoenix Scorpions vs Bunghole Liquors
......A contest between a playoff guaranteed team, and a playoff hopeful. While Bunghole hopes to get enough w's to sneak .......into the playoffs, Phoenix will show them just how far away they are from the top.

Oregon Lumberjacks vs Pittstown Pirate Hookers
......This game could turn out to be the deciding factor in the 7th-9th seed in the playoffs. Both teams would love a win to hold .......the tie-breaker should such situation arise. Computer picked Oregon to win by a touchdown.

Baton rouge Buccaneers vs Big Money Dynasty in the Game of the Week
......So who would win when 1 and 3 in the power rankings square off? Everyone will be watching this game to see the .......outcome. ( flips a coin)...We'll go with Baton Rouge for now to win

Wellsboro Crawling Chaos vs Santa Fe Regulators
......All's well that ends well for the chaos this week. Santa Fe is out-mached and will struggle severely this week on both .......sides of the ball.

Gardner Paraplegics vs Seattle Grand Cru
......Seattle is gonna feel grungy trying to remove wheelchair marks from their backs after the game. Gardner will have no .......problems getting around in their motorized chairs.

Lubbock Red Raiders vs L.A. Looters
......No serious looting has taken place in LA since the O.J. verdict, which coincidentally was the last time our own Looters scored a touchdown. I see Lubbock getting a much needed win to try and work themselves into the playoffs.

as he said, it's statistically based on excel.

Once a few more weeks go by, it should be a pretty accurate measuring stick. Until then it's more or less just for debate (and practice for me)

Also, power rankings are always confused as being an order of "best team". This is usually not the case as it just measures how well teams have performed so far in the season. As of now, the Bucs have performed the best in their 3 games.

BMD by about 40- just like all the other games against us- except the ones where it was more... the transition from jack being #1 to Jack being #1 begins and ends (unless oregon messes it up somehow ) this week.

Actually, if you get in the wayback machine, the Bucs do have a couple of blowout victories over us, so we aren't taking you guys lightly. You guys have been our main conference rivals for a few seasons now. Although the Orangutans are quickly gaining ground in that regard.

We (Orangutans) certainly consider BMD to be our main rivalry and team to beat.

They are the team to beat in the west, yep. it's a bit embarassing to be picked as a contender by a spreadsheet. everyone knows better, who has played us *grin*

if performing best means strength of schedule, I'll have to go with bmd over brb due to bmd playing 2 7's and a 12, where as brb has played a13 and 2 16's. just my take on it.

it's a combo of everything really. You need more data for it to even out. Usually spreadsheet info is only good around week 8 and on.

I can always not do it also.

I think everyone understands that these programs are always off at the beginning of the season and get more accurate as the season progresses. We just like to complain, same as we complain about the BCS. Personally though, I would rather have the rankings posted and let us complain, than do without any rankings. It gives us something to talk about on the forum.
