what does Coverage Distance mean exactly and for what positions?

I think Linebackers and Secondary.
Short is closer to the LOS, Medium is little further back, and Long is the furthest of them all.

so does it affect the FS? is there a way to just move the SS up into the box with out moving anybody else?

cover 1 will move the SS up and leave the FS back, but coverage distance will still move them both closer or farther (just the SS is up front closer now... but moving him closer to the line pulls the FS farther in too)

Cover one will do this (as the previous guy said) and just for clarification, the SS will go into man-2-man coverage and the FS will move into the middle of the field and play 'centerfield' in a large zone coverage.
