I have a few extra DTs and lack DEs. How would it work out if I just put my faster DTs at DE. Is this a viable strategy or would the penalty hurt my defense?

I haven't had any success trying it, but I didn't exactly test it extensively. But typically guys with 2-3 hurries and a sack or two a game at DT were doing nothing at DE for me.

There's probably a small penalty, but if your DT has enough agility and speed it can work. A high strength DT should help with the run.

I've had success playing the starting DT at LDE, to compensate for the lack of snaps at the DT position. (I run a lot of 3 man fronts)

A few sacks, and 2 INTs at LDE for him. No noticeable drop in performance.

I put a high agility dt there and didnt get the pressure I was looking for.

Did have luck with DT at lde helping to close run lanes.

To stop the run it would work. Other than that... I would avoid it. You are better off continuing to work the waiver wire and free agent marketplace. Remember, there are still a lot of users with Day 1 expiring contracts. So if you are patient, you might be able to score a DE.

Does anyone have any replays of a DT at DE on running plays? I know they are typically too slow to create pressure on passing downs, but I'm really just interested in the run.

And why would that be, pray tell?

Due diligence.
