What do you guys think is a good build for an elusive back that specializes in catching passes out of the backfield? Should I try to make him a powerback who catches?

Um...good question. I would build him into a solid elusive back first, then when your main attributes (i.e. speed agility, maybe strength if u want a decently well rounded HB) are at the first cap, then I would train vision and catching while continuing to put my SP's into speed and agility. I would not invest too heavily into catching early as it isnt an attribute that you want or need to be compiling points from level ups like u do for speed and agility once u pass the soft cap. Thats my two cents.

I built mine consistently one point here, one point there

Generally it's speed to 3rd cap, agility to at least 2nd, and from there it's up in the air. Some say to get agility to the 3rd cap, but most can agree that you only need 30 catching/jumping/vision at most.

I'd 4th cap speed, 2nd cap agility, 1st cap Catching, 1st Cap Vision, 30-48 Stamina depending on how much time he gets. And crank up Quick Cut after that.

I had alot of success catching out of the backfield. My HB had 750 receiving yards and 10 receiving TD's in season 7.

The best receiving back in the game says there is a lot of poor advice being dispensed in this thread.

Be SUPER fast.
Be VERY agile.
Catching in the 40s.
Nothing in juke and creative route running.

I may not be an authority on running the ball, but on catching as a HB, I'm your guy.

Hence the 'receiving' HB not dual threat HB.

Having catching over 40 allows you to not "bobble" the ball once you catch it. that half a second of bobbling lets defenders get closer to you. Our receiving back has over 40 catching and he was a monster out of the backfield. He is a combo back as well. More like an elusive back with capped strength.
