I started my WR out as a possession build, then made him more balanced than anything. I think that's the way to go, balanced. Might be the only position where a truly balanced player is effective.

I finished this season with 150 catches in CPL and 0 drops, with 62% completion on a 1-15 team.

The problem is that they may quite possibly be a possession receiver at lvl 15 with those stats. The issue is that possession WRs take a huge amount of time to develop as so many stats need to be worked on, and this means they need to be carried on a team for several seasons before they get to a point where they contribute significantly. My own possession WR had four average seasons before he started producing consistantly, he then ran off a 96, 107 and 124 reception run of seasons contributing mightily to the team.

Just depends what order you do it in and how you build.
I'm going possession like I said, but the first thing I did was cap speed 3:1 (highest it'll go) and agi 2:1, now working on catching 2:1 followed by jumping. If I get jumping mid first season of play those stats will definitely be sufficient for play.
The difference is I haven't played any games for 3 seasons, going to be 4. Not everyone would want to do that, but I want every season I play to be high performance and still be possession.

I like super slow building but it's not worth doing for 4 seasons in my opinion.

I started as a balanced build and turned into a LVL 38 Agility/Speed/Vision WR but with a mid balanced secondary skill set. I had 154 catches, 2300 yrds, 23 TDs and only 7 drops last season

Building in response to observations of the sims and working with a good GM/Owner is the key to being good at any position. Thats what makes the game fun. Sink or Swim.

This is basically what I did. EDIT: except I have always played on a team. Though, I chose to train sta and vis up some because I was returning K and P. I have almost 2nd capped catching and currently training jump.

Season 1 was the D-leagues, of course (season 5)

By the end of season 2 (lvl 13 capped), he was the top WR. His stats for games 16 through the League Championship game (5 games):

Name.....................................Att...Cmp..Drop....PD....Pct.....Yards...Lng....FD...BrTk
WR Sammy Stonehands...50....37........2........10.....74%....323......41......22.....2

Season 3 was in an uncapped league. We brought in some higher lvl WRs (He was the lowest lvl of the 6 WRs on the team). Stats for the entire season:

........Lvl.....Name.............................................Att...Cmp..Drop....PD....Pct.....Yards...Lng....FD...BrTk
WR...39...Martin Raptor...............................184...122.....12.......42....66%...1910.....80.....85......0
WR...27...Mordecai Ali Van Allen O'Shea..79.....35........3........36....44%.....466......63.....24.....1
WR...37...Pablo Stinkyfingers.....................68.....39........9........19....57%.....454......64.....22......2
WR...26...Sammy Stonehands...................62.....45........3........16....73%.....511......34.....29.....1
WR...28...Mac "R.I.P." Dre............................60.....35........1........20....58%.....425......34.....24.....0
WR...28...Haywood Jeffrie's........................60.....27.........3.......25....45%.....459......73.....21......0

1st in rec %, 2nd in PD %, 2nd in receptions, 2nd in TDs (10). So, my point is, a WR building towards a possession rec. can still contribute. It helps that there are a lot of bad average builds out there

I think D leagues are garbage, and nobody is really striving for 10 full seasons of awesome stat producing glory. It doesn't happen, period. But to each their own, to me the loss of a few seasons is pretty much no loss. It doesn't cost me a penny.

I agree to each their own Daddy and do as you'd like. Your still my boy of course.

I only say its garbage because in the end your player ends up worse than he could be.

An example of possession receiver stats. 69 catches, 1 drop. A lot of n00bs would say that he sucks but when you have 3rd and 9, it's nice to throw it to a guy who will almost always catch it in coverage. He still needs work but he's a few points in agility and quick cut from being very good.

Looks pretty similar to mine. He had a few more drops, but several of them during cruise control hell:

Good to know I'm not the only crazy one trying this while everyone builds burners.

It's really not that rare, we've got a top 3 that combined for 312 receptions, 6 drops. It's all in the design.
