I like that Stickman does this after each game. Even if I don't totally agree with the outcome, he puts work into it that is appreciated. This is a game after all meant for fun. So thanks again Stickman for taking the time to put these rankings together.

Yeah, we won today against a VERY formidable team, and went down in our rankings...

I suppose it was because our ST stats went down?

It also might have been you O. I don't know if it droped, but you didn't put up big numbers on O and that dosen't help in a stat based ranking. Also that part of the rankings is crowded too.

The power rankings are fun, but I think some people are missing the point. A lot of the complaints are regarding the W-L records of teams... if that is what you want, look at the official conference standings. The power rankings are based on stats and stats alone. Some teams try to jack up their stats on weaker opponents and some teams just win.

Long story short, go for the big numbers if you want to participate in the arms race. If all you care about is winning, don't pay too much attention to the power rankings.

Yeah, I've played with that a bit to try and see what works well. The thing about using a percentage won stat is that it seems to penalize teams who played against the powerhouse teams early on, because their win percentage is so low, even though their opponents cumulative wins are high, their low win percentage brings them down again.

This is a tricky section to implement. So I appreciate the suggestions, and if I mis interpreted you suggestion, please try and explain it again, since I'm looking for a way to improve this.

Thanks,
StickMan

How can you possibly put the Mountaineers in the middle of the pack?!?!?!

Oh, wait, that's about right. Nevermind.

I agree with Duncan...The league standing gives you all of the W/L standing you need...I assumed the whole idea of this system, flawed or not, was to see it from a different perspective, not just win/loss. I think all teams have looked at this and thought...hmmm...that cant be right, at one point or another.

Anyhow, thanks for the effort Stick.

Yeah looking at it as you and others point out, I guess it is what it is, just like College BCS standings etc that nobody ever agrees with as well. Stickman has provided a tool for teams who want to know where they rank Statistically with other teams. Enough said.

And of course Thank you Stickman for taking the time to compile this, it must take alot of effort.

It is kinda like the BCS. I pointed that out the first time he posted it on our fourums before everyone here saw it. The one thing is, he is not going to let the coaches vote or anyone else. That way he can keep his and everyone elses opinion about specific team out of the rankings. Between that and taking suggestions is why more and more people are agreeing with it.

Thanks,

I did notice that we stayed the same, but the team we beat went up...
