I am not sure if any of you are familiar with OOTP ( http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ ), but it is a baseball text based simulation game that has been around for a long time now.
With OOTP there are online leagues that you can join. You need the game to participate in some leagues, and in others you don't. I have been running OOTP leagues since about 2005 and it is by far my favorite hobby.
My newest league is the United States Players Alliance ( http://usplayersalliance.com/ ). Basically, you register on the forums and create 2 players (one hitter and one pitcher). You supply me with basic information, such as name, position, height, weight, etc. and I randomly create your player using OOTP 9.
The USPA is a players league. Players leagues strive off of forum activity. You can role play your players as you see fit, and you can improve your players ratings by attending live sims, writing articles, creating player websites, etc. Your players will only be as great as you want them to be.
You do not need to own OOTP 9 to be in this league, unless you want to be one of the 8 GMs. I am more than willing to assist anyone that is new to OOTP 9. You can e-mail me at matrey7@ptd.net or catch me on AIM at whippasnappa89.
Thanks for your time and I hope to see some new faces in the league soon!
