The team I'm DCing for right now has only two CBs and the rest of the guys playing CB are either FS or SS. Would you suggest I play more man or zone. I was leaning toward zone, but I just wanted the input of others.

the OOP for safties in CB and vice versa is one of the smaller penalties. Id take a serious look at over all vision and agility. If that is high(60+) then maybe zone will work for you, speed helps as well as confidence.

if you are looking at a lot of speedy agily players, maybe man to man with shell help is better idea.

Honestly a lot of teams that I know or play with have troubles with the current implementation of zone. Even with 2 CBs you may be better off playing man to man and recruit a nickelback onto the team.

How is the zone difficult for people? Shouldn't it be just as effective for you as for me?

Edit: (I know I'm not a DC, but I want to learn to be one for my current team).

I think the zone is difficult because man to man you have a guy stuck to the receiver like glue, and it just seems to work better...

If you have zones, there are gaps in between the zones and the WRs are uncovered until they hit a zone...

It seems the 'risk' of getting burned by man to man is less than the risk of the 'safer' zones not being aggressive enough ...IMHO....

But this is only my second season as DC

The problem is, the zones are kind of unpredictable when it comes to CB's. The fewer CB's on the field, the more effective zone coverage seems to be.

Not saying to run a 4-3 against 5WR, but yeah. There doesn't seem to be a huge advantage to using zones rather than man coverage, except for special situations. Won't give out my secrets for this season though

I'm guessing red zone or 3rd and longs.
