I just rolled Closing Speed +1 catching.

My problems is I dont even have anything in the speedster tree beside first step quick cut. Plus I don't think my team ever has me in Zone and id rather not get a bonus to catch up to a guy that just torched me.

I am looking to get Shutdown coverage so i can keep up with guys before the ball is thrown. As opposed to closing speed, which i am guessing fires after the catch is made.

My question is does SA's at the end of the tree like Shutdown and Closing speed come up often? or should i just buy the Closing speed before i reroll because it might not come up again? Its not the piece i want, but its the best so far and id hate to have to keep rolling the store since i am already 2 levels behind on Bonus tokens for my equipment.

Not a huge fan of closing speed for CB's, much better for defenders going after hb's (ideally LBs).

As far as SAs go, I would rank them: Super vision>Shutdown Corner>most of the other CB attributes + jump/diving catch > closing speed

You're a little too focused on the ability for your CB to shut down his receiver. There are a lot of other aspects to a CB's game, and Closing Speed can really help with them, especially if you're the third or fourth CB and playing inside. Closing Speed will help you chase down the HB in run support, will help you hustle over and make a tackle on a receiver that someone else is covering that just caught the ball, will help you close the gap and make an immediate tackle on underneath routes (preventing the WR from turning upfield for YAC or getting to the first down marker), and perhaps most importantly, Closing Speed will help you get the WR on the ground when facing a WR screen pass, which is currently one of the most dangerous plays in GLB when run correctly. Don't focus on the part where you got torched and you're trying to chase after the guy... you're probably not going to catch him anyway.

The beauty of picking up a Closing Speed piece of AEQ is that you won't have to spend +1 SP per rank in it AND you won't have to waste SP on Return Specialist or Blitz just to get to it in the first place. You can pump up First Step and Change Direction and then stop right there.

I don't know that I'd take it in conjunction with just +1 catching, but if it was +1-3 to speed/agility/vision I'd say buy it. Or you can keep rolling and try to find Shutdown Coverage or Superior Vision or First Step (all better SAs to have).

getting closing speed sa now is good but continue to look for something that can help in pass defense ... a CB"S PRIMARY DUTY

something like +3 agility, 3 % int chance ... remember the sa goes up everyother lvl while a % goes up by 2% every level

those % increases are very negligible. definitely get something with SA's in it, theyre more beneficial

agree but closing speed is not an immediate need for a cb, unless playing zone if anything u want to get SV, and dont underestimate the % increases, they definately make a difference
