I'm currently trying to slow build a beast of a nickel corner. I plan on initially triple capping agility, and double capping speed, vision, and jumping. I plan on soft capping catching at least, maybe more. When it's time for SA's I plan on working mostly on the Shutdown abilities. Has anyone tried this and is it successful?

Why would you build a nickel back? How would this be different than any other CB?

sounds like a regular CB to me

If you are building a CB3 specifically you might as well dive into the Speedster tree, Blitz and Closing Speed sound more nickel-ish to me.

Shutdown guys will probably play CB1/2... could be just me tho

there are two schools of thought about CB3. One is that you want him to be just like your CB1 and CB2. If I want a certain build to cover WR1 and WR2, why would I want to deviate from that to cover WR3? Also, by having similar builds you have a pool of interchangeable parts that you and sprinkle on the CB1-3 depth charts to always have a fresh guy out there.

the other is to maximize the positional strength of the CB3. a CB3 is usually on the weak side and is about 5 yard closer to the QB than CB1. to me, that is a prime blitzing position. fortunately, CBs have the speedster tree and the blitzing SA. what you can do is focus on speedster abilities. even if you focus on speed and blitzing ability you don't really lose all that much coverage ability when you consider what you gain in making plays in the backfield.
