The team I play next throws to their RB and FB often and are very successful doing it. Does the MLB cover the RB every play in man coverage?

And how do you stop this play? They run it all the time.

That D looked like it was playing zone under. If you want to cover the HB/FB out of backfield on pass routes you have to play man under and not blitz either the MLB or ROLB. They're the ones who will go cover the RBs. The LOLB will cover the TE with double coverage help from SS, so I'd guess in a cover 1 scheme, you could blitz the LOLB so the SS would take the TE, and MLB/ROLB the RBs.

Least that is my understanding of it.

That will let the SS come up and help out the LOLB with the TE, and should be able to see the FB in the flat and go after him. The ROLB will cover the HB coming out the right side in case they also run pro-set HB pass. If their HB has blazing speed for that formation, I generally shift LB's to the weak side so the ROLB is already infront of the HB.

However key to picking up the FB, is having the SS out of a Cover package, and not Blitz the LOLB (that would cause the TE to be free, or the SS will pick up the TE and FB is all alone).
