NO custom equipment so far. I'm not sure whether or not I want to retire him. I like having a high level player and if I get positive reactions I will boost him THREE times this season and buy custom equipment.

He is fine just pick a direction and roll with it. Go against the grain get a +6STR with containment tree, build strong base up and play on combo or bullrush.

Lolno. Learn how to soft-cap. There are a lot of guys 10 levels below your guy with the same stats. Retire him.
