what do you think the reason why punt length isn't consistent.

punters kicking a 49, 48, 27, 25, 52 all in one game is just so weird especially if he was further into his own side of the field on the 27 yarder than he was on the 50.

ideas why this happens?

I'd check the situations. Did you punt recently (energy)? How close is the game (confidence)? If that 27 was soon after the 48, you might have been hit by energy and a bad confidence roll. Then you got hit by a bad confidence roll again, and if the 52 was way later in the game, things could have calmed down.

Etc.

A lot of random stuff happens in this game, and usually the best bet for consistency is confidence.
