It doesn't matter how things work now, because by the time your WR is actually developed everything will be different. I suggest take a speed approach, but don't forget agility and catching.

That is what is so aggravating about tying to find the right build.

The biggest problem with deep passing this year is balls being underthrown. It's not even close IMO. Any separation my speed guy has been getting is completely negated by the fact that he has to wait a few ticks for the ball to get to him. I would probably have been better off at this point sacrificing 5 points of speed for 10-15 jumping right now, sigh. I'm still happy with my build and where it's going, but watching my guy get behind coverage only to have the CB catch up and knock it away because of underthrown balls is absolutely maddening.

Yeah, in this case you'll want tons of agility and spin to get back by the last CB.

Speed WRs still work.
WRs who just pump speed and ignore actually becoming a WR don't work (and never truly have).
Almost every single time the a WR gets open in man coverage (we are talking 95%+) they are open as a result of one of these reasons:
-A cut during the route the he makes faster than the CB.
-Pump Fake by the QB
-Failed INT/Swat by the DB who falls down
-Headfake/Juke during the route by the WR
All of these, aside from perhaps running after making a cut during your route (which one could argue is more agility based than speed based, but i digress) do not rely on speed. At no point in the sim did speed WRs simply run past CBs on a regular basis because they were so fast...

I kind of disagree with that...I see speed based receivers run right past CBs all the time. The passes are most times underthrown and the WR has to come back and get it but I often see the WR run right past the CB on fly routes and get very good seperation.

I used to run past them all the time with just speed and FS, this season that doesn't work, unless you are on CCR and stutter at the beginning of the route and then blow by them with speed.

The only 2 that the WR controls are the first and the last, and agility significantly impacts both of these. Is agility the new speed? Will we see WR with 100+ in agility and 70ish speed?

Show me a couple replays from last year of this and I'll agree with you m6 my friend.
An extremely high percentage of time when you "run right by the CB" he is being pump faked...

How do you determine if the pump fake occurred?

none of those
You'll see the QB pump fake. Ball back, ball up, ball back, throw.
