Alright, here's the deal. He's level 11. He gets no game xp (super slow build) and will be 30 xp shy of level 13 at the end of this season (prior to boosting). Here's his build currently (without equipment):

Strength:8
Blocking:8
Speed:49.31
Tackling:8
Agility:50.31
Throwing:9
Jumping:17.31
Catching:15.31
Stamina:16.31
Carrying:15
Vision:15.31
Kicking:9
Confidence:15
Punting:8

0-0-0-0
1-1-1-1

28 SPs left to spend, training jumping/catching the rest of the season.

WIth BTs and leveling to 12 + boosting 3 times, I roughly estimate that I'll have about 76 SPs to blow. Where should I drop them? discuss.

I was thinking of just softcapping catching ASAP so that it gets boosted by natural leveling next season, thus saving me a few SPs (since it will be a 2:1 ratio after the first softcap).

I could also pump speed to the 2nd softcap and agi to the 2nd softcap. It would leave me really shallow in vision, carrying, and confidence. Jumping and catching would be decent by the end of next season if i train them all of this season and next.

Thoughts on any direction i could/should go?

I'd say put all your points in speed until it takes 5 points to increase your speed, then put the rest in agility. You want those as high as you can, then when you level up you are getting the most out of the natural bonuses.

76 SP? Wow. Get speed and agility to the next cap at least, and start getting them to the third cap. Then start dumping your leftover points into catching, vision, jumping.

interesting thought, actually. I'd be completely useless for the most part for my first season, but most WRs are lol.

Train catching/vision;catching/jumping until vision and jumping are both 25.
Spend all your points in speed until 4:1, cap catching immediately following, then agility 3:1.
If you end up getting catching capped before jumping/vision are 25, train jumping/vision.

You are underrating agility. If he goes that route, he'll have 90+ speed and only 50 agility, which is terrible.

a lot depends on when he is going to start playing.
if its next season, then you need to show catching some love as well as speed/agility. Then train your minors - vision/confidence agility/stamina etc

if he is still "in development" next year, then Id just pump speed/agility.

You are underrating reading comprehension.
I said 3:1 cap agility, which means it would be 60.
60 agility is plenty for a WR that has 90+ speed.

Not at all, my WR has pretty much always had a 40 point difference between agility and speed and he's always performed well.

Maybe. But it's my experience that a WR with 60 agility and 85 speed (or even 65/82 or so) is much more useful to an offense. They can actually run short routes and such. I know overrated, right?

more opinions. kgo!

He'll be playing next season, but honestly who cares about a WR in a lvl 13 capped league when rushers usually dominate. That first season is usually for development, if anything.

My WR is much better at short routes than he is at deep routes. Yes, overrated

Our WR with 102 speed and 55 agility never gets open. He only has 150 yards on the season so far, and the other WR with over 70 agility is in the top 10 in the league in yards.

Also, yo need vision. I would say that vision is better than catching. My HB was in a playoff game last season (conf finals) and he has 14 catching. He was put in at WR and had 140+ yards on 12 receptions. My HB has 55 viaion.

Catching is overrated. Vision is more important than catching. THink of catching like carrying for HBs. Do people try to soft cap that? no they jus train it.

1.Get speed to 61
2.Get agility to 61
3.Get vision capped
4.Start on speed to 69, then agility to 69.
5.During all this you are training catching and jumping.

Catching expands your catching radius (as well as jumping) and helps you catch passes that were deflected by the CB (it happens quite frequently with high catching). It's really not overrated. It's a very important skill for good WR's. The ones with softcapped catching catch around 55-65% of their passes intended for them (depending on the QB as well). Guys with second soft capped catching catch 65%-75% of their passes.

As a GM or owner, i'd never consider signing a WR that didn't intend to ever put SP's into catching. It definitely needs to be softcapped at some point, and second soft capped is preferable.
