is anyone using this?

i am building a team from scratch and was thinking about playing a lot of zone, then having all my DBs and maybe LBs max out zone spec. that seems like it would be a huge boost to a D.

i'm floating the idea around now because currently i'm focusing on building the stadium and wont be fielding a real team till season 8. please give me some input on this idea.

if anyone is interested in being a part of this D let me know. we'll need CBs and S in the 30s or higher. thanks.

this will be an interesting experiment. some things i might suggest...

your guys are going to have to recognize who their man is and get to him quickly, as well as switch men quickly when guys enter/exit their zone. because of this, you will want a 1:1 ratio of speed/agility. maybe even higher agi. you will want to have most of your SA points in FS and CD. you will also want to probably never go past SV in the shutdown SA tree. i'd maybe even try to 2nd or 3rd cap vision and avoid SV altogether.

your aren't going to need super fast CBs in a zone heavy defense, but they are going to have to be lightning quick and have exceptional vision.

thanks. i'm having my doubts as to whether it would actually work or not. from what i hear the zone is just too weak on GLB.

i've never seen a team really try to go all out zone. maybe thats something i will try next off season.

Zone sucks, why waste points in a VA that will never be used?

shortsightedness for the win.

CBs (generally) don't play zone. They play man-to-man (see the description of the Shutdown coverage SA).

Canes is 100% correct in his comment while Negronic doesn't know what he's talking about....

PS - yeah it really sucks but if you got zone specialist for your CB, you wasted your VA points...

so the SC ability makes zone worthless? brilliant.

The better way of summing up this thread is-
Currently, zones on GLB suck. They were boosted a bit this offseason, but they still aren't good. So at the moment, most corners play man, effectively wasting the zone specialist VA. However, when zones do become a useful defense, zone specialist will be very useful, and players who will regularly be in zones should focus on agility more than the traditional speedy corner.

Do you not realize that CBs don't play zone defense when they're lined up against a WR?

And no I didn't say the SC ability makes zone worthless. Where are you getting that?

Zone defense just doesnt do as well as man to man. Its a waste for a CB to have zone specialist. Though for a safety, its great.
