There is a site called rootzoo.com.

there is a group dedicated to people who use that site, plus use GLB.

One of them just said this, and it shocks me as surprisingly true.

"GLB is a haven for frontrunners and people who want to piggyback on the success of others (as in people hate signing with teams that arent already very good, which begs the question of how teams get good in the 1st place), rarely do you find a straight up dude who wants to help build something on his own. anyway sorry to hear about your forum the salukis forum has low participation but that has always been the case."

That is pretty true. But part of why people don't want to help a team rebuild is that often, a team needing serious rebuilding has bigger problems than a few free agents. They tend to be mismanged, bad tactics, and dumb financial moves. So why would you lock your guy into a year on a team that's coming off its third losing season in a row? Odds are you won't be able to convince the owner to bench his own (badly built) players or convince him that building the stadium is smarter than buying AEQ for every slot on players.

Now people refusing to sign with a team that got promoted out of a BBB and had a losing year only because they want to play for a "winner" are frontrunners, since a team coming out of BBB usually has some idea how to win, but just couldn't do it in an uncapped league with capped league players.

Here are a few reasons I have turned teams down:
A lot of bad teams want to "rebuild" with no real plan of getting there.
Teams full of non- boosters and/or inactives.
Dead forums.
League is crappy or at least way below the player's leve,l on average.

Eh. I signed my first player to a 'rebuilding' team out of the gate for the exact reason that I thought it would be more fun to come up together and build a winning team.

As pottsman said, it ended up being nothing but bad tactics, malaise, and increasing discontent. We got worse each season and that team is still bad. After 3+ seasons, I bailed. Most players are guns for hire with a limited shelf life. Why should they want to waste time not being competitive and enjoying the game more?

A part of my point that didn't get across is that you just have to look at what kind of rebuilding is going on. A team that's always been bad will probably stay bad. A team that expanded into an uncapped league could have potential in its second year, if you sign on. And a team that played well in a capped league, got promoted, and had a bad year in uncapped could easily be a team you'd be very happy on. Team 1, you don't sign with. Team 2 is worth thinking about. Team 3 (I GM one like that) will turn around and be a contender if they get some half decent recruits. You need to look at more than record.

I joined a rebuilding team and it was one of the biggest mistakes I've made. The DC does not take criticisms well. He runs a Cover 3 most of the time, and blitzes FS from cover 3. Does not pass rush with RDE, despite RDE having a decent build. I've also seen him blitz CB1, CB2 from 4-2-5 cover 3 as well. We let a CPU team score 24 points and he thought our defenses were improving.

If I make a post of what I think is wrong with our defense, he gets all defensive and thinks of it as a personal attack against him.

I still do not know why he uses cover 3 so extensively. It's incredibly frustrating.
