VIscount, you are completely misunderstanding the mechanics of the game. Everything is a formula. When the QB goes to throw the ball, all these numbers are thrown into a formula.

Why did the FS and other defenders not react the same way even tho they could have had higher vision? Because the roll of the dice didn't come up the same way it did for me. It's not a game of absolutes where getting your stats to one level will automatically make event "a' occur every time.

This is my exact point!

What I've repeatedly posted is that you cannot simply say that you made that play because of your vision, as there are so many other factors going into the equation other than just vision.

Your thread title is "Vision in action", it is not "I got a lucky INT roll due to a combination of all my attributes and SAs versus that of the QB and WR".

I reiterate what I said above.

Bort has stated that defenders get their swat/INT roll before WRs get their catch roll. So the fact the pass was going to your zone could've allowed your SS to react to it, his speed, agility and possibly vision got him in the right position and then your agility, jumping, Sticky Hands, etc. allowed you to make the INT.

I'm not saying my theory is definitely correct, but you can't specifically say that the reason you made that INT was due to vision.

Take this CB for example: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=26673
He had 9 INTs in USA Pro last season but I can't say that the only reason he got those INTs is because he had soft capped catching, or that it was just because he has 11 Superior Vision. There are so many underlying possible factors.

So what stat makes you read plays then? What you are arguing is like saying "you don't know for sure that speed is what made you run that fast- it could have been a combination of a lot of things!"

Vision is reading plays, that is how it is described by bort. that's what happened, he read plays. Maybe you are talking about the deflection, all that noise- I don't care, I'm talking about making the break before the ball is thrown. That is 100% vision, maybe with some small factors thrown in like confidence. what the hell else could it be? Stamina? Get the fock out.

Do you consider 70 vision to be high?

It doesn't matter what is considered "high". I'm arguing that is the primary function of vision- reading plays as they develop. You seem to think that vision is not the primary component in the safety making a break on that route.

Well would you expect players with 70+ vision react to plays earlier than players with just 50 vision, not even on every play but at least sometimes?

React earlier? Maybe- react more often? Probably- but is 100% completely irrelevant from this conversation or the play that I posted.

I consider it above average, but not high. My saftey's vision is at 81 (with equip) at the moment.

tbh speed is more important than vision right now but 60 vision should be a minimum by mid 30s

eh I can beg to differ I know vision is great. But My s.s. only has 50 vision in favor of more str. and he does just dandy in AA. But I am certainly thinking about bringing vision to 60, eventually.

And you can tell it's a big waste.

Here is a good play to highlight vision....

My FS reacts about two frames quicker than the SS (who is also in zone coverage). FWIW - he reacts the instant the QB cocks the ball to make the pass.

You don't have to say exactly how much vision your FS has, but how much more vision and Superior Vision does he have than the SS?

17 more vision/3 more super vision than the SS....let's just say....most QBs don't have as much vision as my FS...not that it's done him any good. I will say my vision isn't quite as high as chronoaug, but it's not very far off at all. Within 5%.

My FS:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=289133&pbp_id=3381286

The other FS on my team:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=289133&pbp_id=3378524

This pretty much happens all game. I will admit, I love Zone Specialist.

My FS has 11 more vision, 22 more speed, 3 more agility, 2 more super Vision, 1 more change direction, 1 less Closing Speed, 1 less First Step.

Don't know about his VA's but mine are: 15 Zone Specialist, 4 Track Star

Not true. I feel my safety is in great position and works really well as a starter for a team consistently at the top of the standings in tough leagues.
