"The lemmings"? That's pretty arrogant a term to throw around. People asking for help because the game is very systematic in what you have to do at what point doesn't make them mindless, it makes them humble.
The fact that many people do the same thing is iconic to what you suggested in your first post; if we all knew exactly what every attribute did and to what degree, what would even be the point of playing? Game planning alone? What about players? The loldots aren't that fun to watch.
Theorizing is half the fun of this game in my opinion(as a player, not a gm/owner). Being able to discuss it on the forums is the other half.
