I had my Offensive Tactics set at 47 yards. 'Follow Exactly' on that screen is turned off, btw.

I can't figure out why my kicker keeps trying 55+ yard FG's. I was under the impression the tactic setting was the total length of the FG, i.e. from the Goal posts to the spot. Why am I trying so many FGs way too long?

Only thing I can think of is maybe setting something to "Within FG Range" overrides your personal distance setting.

In which case I guess the fix would be to specifically set up a FG play on 4th down between the opponents 30 and goal which would never be a longer kick than 47.

You shouldn't have to do that though, I've never seen my Kicker try anything longer than suggested. Use the Offensive AI tool to see what comes up when you try various FG lengths at various times.

Good suggestion 2ndeye. I plugged in the circumstance where I attempted a 'too long' FG and the test tool came up with no match. I'm assuming that means the basic AI would take over and I had the 47 yard limit, so I'm still a bit stumped.

The frustrating part is I know it's something stupid/simple/embarrassing that I've overlooked. I'll poke around some more to see if I can come up with some explanation.

If you can't find it, and I'm sure if you look enough it's in there, it usually is, I can try to take a look for you, or maybe someone else on your team you trust can scout it out for you.

Sometimes there's an extra FG input in there you just aren't seeing for some reason.

I think I figured it out while stumbling across a similar bug in my AI logic. I have range for 49 yards and set up a FG to kick between the Opponents 30 and goal which is a 47 yarder and in AND within field goal range as a special circumstance.

I just happened to check the logic on what we'd do on 4th and whatever at the Opp 31 and there were no inputs found for what would be a 48 yard field goal.

So if you want it to follow your set distance, make sure the Input reads only "within FG range" and any spot to any spot, because the yardage choices can override your distance setting.
