OK, I want to slow build a pure Speed Rushing DE. Agility and the burst off the line is my focus and my long term goal is to have Agility over 100 and maxed out First Step.

I'm going to slow build him for the first 3 seasons and I'm curious people think I should focus my training on? Should I train mainly Agility and Speed to maximize them once I do assign my points? Or focus on training other skills so when I assign my points I can just pour ALL of them into Speed, Agility, and First Step?

your four main attributes as a DE are agility, speed, strength, and tackling.

You always want to be training the ability you're going to cap (unleast untill it's 25+) so start by training adv on agl/spd till you cap agl, then train spd/"x" till you can cap spd, then go back and x2 cap agl and you'll be on your way.

-cap the main atts that you want to focus on (agl&spd in your case)as soon as you can, you get an automatic +.5 to those untill lvl 22. So, for example, if you cap agl around lvl 4 and don't put anymore points into, it will be 1 point below the x3 soft cap by the time you hit lvl 22. That's 18 SP worth of value for nothing.
-Don't put anything into any SA untill you start getting Veteran points
-put all your initial equipment into stamina till you can come back and train it up to at least 25, then shift all your equipment over to agl.

P.S. the talk around the sewing circle is that this build is no longer effective due to changes in the off season, I personally think it's still better then a strength build (no play if you aren't near the ball...) but build at your own risk.

dude, just looked at your players, you totally know what you're doing, weird that you're asking for advice. I thought I was posting to a new player, hope you don't take it wrong.

Go back to season 1, build speed and agility, ignore strength completely, enjoy your successes through season 6, then cry because your unbalanced build got Borted.

Speed builds will continue to get worse and worse. If you want to have a build that will stand the test of time, then go with agility. There is no nerf to a good agility build. If you have a lot of agility, it makes sense you should be able to get around blockers.

Also I'm SHOCKED a whole forum of football fans here and no one understands the circle of life in the trenches. Defensive linemen get quick to beat offensive linemen, offensive linemen get smaller and quicker to stop defensive linemen, defensive linemen get stronger to push around the smaller offensive linemen, offensive linemen get stronger, the cycle begins again. It's been going on in football since the dawn of time and it looks like the cycle will carry over to GLB. My DE is level 4 right now. By the time he's ready for the big leagues DEs will have switched to power to beat the now quicker, more agile OTs, OTs will begin reacting to that and getting stronger and slower again, and my guy should enter the fray just in time to remind OTs why they were getting faster in the first place.

Bort said himself that Speed DEs didn't get nerfed, o-linemen just got faster.

Oh and

DE is one of 2 positions I have no experience at all with, I've never built a DE or a TE so I'm looking for advice from the pros for my first foray into the Ddefensive End position.
