My CB just stops when the ball is thrown. On other plays I've seen him do that and get burnt earlier in the route -- I presume that's happening because he doesn't have enough vision or points in the superior vision SA and is getting beat by pump fake.

But in this play, a pump fake doesn't make sense -- he stops when the ball is actually released. Any ideas?

Its a pump fake. Vision + super vision is the answer to your question.

well, i suppose that's good news in that I noticed him getting burnt by pump fake on other plays so I already planned to bump those (currently vision is at 50 and super vision at 3).

But it does seem a little bit absurd that he can 'bite' on a pump fake at the time of release and react by stopping on a dime.
