re: the lofty passing style, easier catch but also to intercept.

has bort ever said if using this throwing style should work well with a high jumping receiver? i was just wondering if the sim makes jumping a bigger part of the formula if it's a lofty pass.

Interesting idea monsterkill

In theory it should but the issues that have been seen with short passes combined with bullet passing have started some interesting questions like "does lofty passing equal the worst of both worlds?"

Bullet passes, with their low trajectories, have seemed to be easier to intercept as the line of scrimmage. Lofty passes being effectively the opposite, might by pass this difficultly and replace it with being easier to intercept down the field.

Bort has never given an answer to what passing styles work with different styles of receiver.

As kingofgod said try it in a sim and see what happens. It would be an interesting test.

i tried lofty once when it first was put in in season 4.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=120609

It was against a really weak team (they only won 4 games that season) and I usually average 65% on completions. This game I was below 50%. There was also like 15 pass deflections too. I never used lofty again.

Thanks for the link Ilok. Which team was on lofty?

yeah thats the tough part, finding a receiver that sacrificed speed in order to take jumping and catching really high, like 80+

my QB Wally Wombat, who only completed 28% of his passes against a last place team.

bumping this again for the latest sim updates. now that we know that the z-axis is at least considered in the simulation, i'm really curious if it's safer to throw lofty passes to a high jumping receiver
