Well football fans you can't ask for a better matchup than this for the Eastern Conference championship. This game features 2 teams that are a combined 31-1 and have great balance on both sides of the ball. American Freedom rolls into this game as a 10 point favorite - they have simply taken care of business this year, including a 40-0 thrashing of the Souls earlier in the season. They are led by HB Ulrik Gorm who has simply been a beast this season and a defense that does not give up much of anything. Outside of the 2 games with Tri-City this defense has never given up more than 17 points.

On the other side of the ball we have the Syracuse Souls - who also are led by a strong pair of HB's in Braden Kelly and Pat Cast. Syracuse was able to hold off a tough Bortsville team in the semi's by a score of 30-20 so they feel very confident heading into this game. Things have changed in Soul-ville since the 40-0 loss including a new owner taking over the reigns - since that change the Souls have gone 8-0 and won in impressive fashion. The Souls also sport a very tough defense that pressures the QB and creates turnovers.

This will be a tough, hard fought game. Each team has the ability to control the clock with their running game and make big plays in the passing game when needed. Points will be tough to come by and in the end turnovers may play a big key into who wins this game.

Norse - I have not been around the BBB #1 forum for too long, but I can say that from what I have seen you have put together a great team and bring a great attitude to this league. I can't wait until kickoff - we are eagerly awaiting this matchup and want revenge for that first game in the worst way. 40-0 is on our bulletin board and has motivated our GM's to game plan the hell out of this game.

May the best team win - again should be a great one to watch (or at least I hope).

Good luck AF!

Thanks J,

I'm really looking forward to the game myself and I also commend you for not missing a beat with taking over ownership of the Souls, most teams falter a bit before stabilizing - that did not happen with you. We know that you've changed things up a bit for this game, as we have, to create something that the other side hasn't seen before. I'll be at a work conference during the game and won't be able to check on it until well after it's over, but I can't wait to watch the PbP replay.

Best of luck to both of you since I agree, this one will come down to game planning and turn overs.

You can say that again. I don't think we've ever turned the ball over that much in a single game. Great game Souls.

Our offense got us to the Championship game. Our defense won it for us. But they didn't win it easily cause you guys came to play some serious ball.

Great game by both teams. Only fitting it went to OT. Thank god we won the coin toss because the way Syracuse was playing they were going down the field.

Damn what a game - I knew it was going to be a classic - defensive battle in the first half and the offenses got going in the 2nd half. As soon as we lost the coin flip - I just threw my hands up - game over!

You guys are damn good and I wish you good luck in the League Final - give em hell.

I hope to continue our rivalry if we end up getting moved up to A ball. It's games like this that make GLB great.

Fantastic game Syracuse! 6 lead changes, 4 tied scores after the opening gun, critical turn overs, and over time on top of it all. Agreed, a classic game, the way title games should be. I just watched the replay PbP and it was defensive struggle, no doubt until half way through the 4th Q when both teams started getting desperate to make something happen. Even with tired defenses, they held strong. THe offenses matched evenly with yardage, though Syracuse edges us out in the grand total. The passing games were completions moving the chains (Freedom) vs. larger risks with more gains (Syrcuse) by the QBs. Both Ks were money and both Ps did what they had to do. It's really difficult to say what decided the final outcome, but you're right, once Freedom won the coin toss in overtime, I breathed a HUGE sigh of relief because I knew that if we could get to your 35 yard line, Farn could get it done.

Just a couple of game notes:

1) Freedom's G Glenn Heidenreich held to 4 tackles, 3 hurries, and on the forced fumble, Glenn was already out of the play.
2) Syracuse's SS Sissinius Snow deserves game MVP with 15 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and 5 passes defended. Nobody on either team played harder to win this game that Sissinius did. He's a hell of a player, don't let him go.
3) Syrucus' defense forced three fumbles, 1/3 of Freedom's entire season total and also caused 7 hurries, which is more than half of Freedom's season total.
4) Freedom's backup QB Run N' Gun took control of over time, something that was unexpected, but show's Freedom's commitement to quality backups.
5) Ulrik was, by all standards, held in check being limited to only 118 yards, with 4 tackles for losses, 2 fumbles with 1 lost.
6) Freedom kept QB Tyler Blackstar in check the majority of the game.
7) Your HB Braden Kelley still proved squirly to handle, but we didn't let him get out of control.
8) Freedom's offensive line got drop on your defensive line, 10 pancakes to your 2 against ours.

There's no reason to be in dispair Syracuse, you guys did an outstanding job and made sure that you went down with a fight - and Freedom felt it. It will be an honor to be promoted with you guys and to continue the rivalry. Freedom will do all we can to represent everyone and bring the bring Gold to the Eastern Conference.

A is tough, take a look at the records of those who have dominated BBB for seasons. Im not saying you cant win up there, because you both could, its just real competitive.
