I've seen some pretty crazy highlights of hbs with 100+ speed and am considering getting my current hb's speed which is now at 93, to 100. Is this a good idea or is it smarter to put some points into strength and go for some power SA's instead?

I just can't imagine what you could accomplish with 100 speed that couldn't get done just as easily with 93 speed and all of the SPs that you'd spend getting to 100 spent elsewhere (like perhaps on "Confidence"). How many SPs would you have to spend to make the jump from 93 to 100?

if you're smart and get speed to 68ish early in the career, getting speed to 100 is no problem at all.

the secondary likely has just as much speed as you + closing speed so you probably have a better chance of breaking their tackles than outrunning them. i'd still keep as much of your equipment in speed as possible

But that doesn't address the wisdom (or lack thereof) of doing so. What can one do at 100 speed that one can't do at 93 speed with pluses to the other attributes that could have been bumped with the SPs spent on the difference between 93 and 100?

I'd think that you would get to 100 eventually anyway through level-ups and equipment. I see you struggled in your playoff game. Maybe you should work on something else.

One of my HB's I'm slow building will have 100 speed and 60 agility at level 24. By getting his attributes that high quite early, when he's in the level 30s and I've got his SAs up he'll always be superior to the other similarly levelled HBs who were afraid to get their speed higher.

Going from 93 in an attribute to 100 costs (roughly) how many SPs?

With that attitude you'll never make plays like these:

(Unbeaten AA team that out levelled us)

so you think he should spend 5:1 or 6:1 to get speed from 93 to 100 instead of improving his ability to break tackles?

To answer the Q in the thread title: yes.

But you have to take into account level 40 equipment doing most of the work. I'd pay 5SP/point in speed if I had an elusive HB.

i struggled in the game because of the fact that my genius offensive coordinator decided to put me in the wild cat so i got sacked twice and had penalties to my attributes.

At level 32, +5 equipment is available. 4 pieces is +20. A piece of CE with 6 speed makes it +26. That means you need a flat speed of 74. Not very tough at all. My elusive should have 100 speed by lvl 32, with 68 in agility and capped vision.

Hooooray Math!

Yeah. At level 32, it should be easy for a lot of Elusive backs to reach 100 speed. I'm at 86ish speed myself (64 Speed base) at level 24. That's with 58 agility, so I'm pretty sure I could get 10 agility/speed within 8 levels.
