Can it work consistently, or is it too weak on the line in GLB?

If you mean that you can succeed without a strong D-line, that is quite true...if you mean that strength provides no value, I disagree.

The question however seems to relate to the viability of a 3-4 defense....

It has it's uses, just like all defensive schemes. I wouldn't run it in every situation though.

i didn't mean weak as in the individual strength rating, i mean is it too weak as a formation on the line, that is 3 DL vs 5 OL (granted usually there's 1 LB rushing the QB as well, but LBs are generally easier to block). The great thing about the 3-4 in RL is that it's easy to disguise coverages and blitzes, that's not always the case in a simulated game due to the mechanics of the sim. I don't know much of defense and how it works and how it works in terms of the mecnahics of GLB, thus the question. Sorry if i wasn't clear.

I like it because it gives you more options to blitz with...

perhaps it's just the team i'm on, but it seems that the OL just always gets a huge push against the 3 DL... it seems nearly impossible to get good and consistent pressure on the QB if used as the primary scheme...

That is probably because of the "DE effectiveness" curve. Lower level DE's do absolutely nothing, higher level DE's completely destroy everything if built proper.

My one team runs 3-4 exclusively and we are second in defense in the league across the board. Do whatever makes sense given your personnel and the situation.

3-4 sucks, killing cupcakes doesn't make it a good defense. Str is not important enough as it stands.

Wouldn't that give the 3-4 an advantage?

can anyone post a link to a 3-4 shifted weak, a 34 shifted strong, and one shifted center...I cant tell them apart so well! I just want to know how to tell them apart by looking, when I am looking at replays

Didn't find weak shift run depth in a couple minutes of looking. I'm sure there's one somewhere in that game.
