I thought I understood this but someone told be today I was wrong about the % assignment for outputs within the offensive and defensive AIs.

The way I understand it is that if you have 4 outputs for an input and you want them all to have the same likelihood of coming up you should set them all to 100% and the AI will pick one. I was told today that I would have to set each to 25% in order to make them equal 100% and that if I put them all at 100% the basic AI will kick in. What is the correct way to do this? Thanks for your help.

25%

Any inputs you make have to add up to 100. Putting each one at 100 makes it 400 and the AI says "screw that"

Still no guarantee it'll be spit evenly since the computer isn't keeping track. The 25% just represent the chance each play that it will be used. Just like rolling dice.

Actually the ai makes it all add up to 100% and adjusts accordingly

3 inputs at 100% would be changed to 33.3% by the simulation automatically. It is how my ai is set up and it works fine.

That is indeed the theory. But since no one trust the code, the common practice is setting the output sum to 100% leaving no room for funny businesses.

(Also, it was never be written explicitly. All we "know" that is you are under 100% the sim will fix that somehow)

I have always used the 100 total method and never had a problem.

As a side note, if your totals equal say 80%, then I think the basic settings kick in for that extra 20%.

Yea, we had a set of outputs that only added to 65% as the owner didn't like one and simply deleted it.

So at game time, down by 4, less than 2 mins, we started running the ball, when every output said throw.

So now definetely All outputs add to 100%.

BORT has stated explicitly that 3 outputs, each at 100% would be treated as 100/300, or 33.3% chance per output.

I use the Add to 100 method and have never had a problem play calling!

***^^^This is what I thought. It's limiting if you have a bunch of outputs but if it's a very specific situation and you have only 2-3 outputs I thought it could be very handy. I'm glad to know that I can go back to this method. Thanks all!!!
