Need? That's all according to your build and what kind of player you want. Vision does help power backs though.

it helps power backs less than elusive backs, but it helps all in some respect.

Vision is a total sinkhole for Powerbacks and a total waste of Points

Vision can be the difference between your power HB running to the outside and breaking a CB tackle or running straight into two LBs. It's not a total waste of points. Like I said, it's all about how you are building your back. If you want a tank HB...one of those 100 str, 50 speed, 50 agility backs, then no it would not be useful. If you have a powerful HB that can also move, vision is very important.

It's not a waste to couple it with another attribute you need to train on intense, but don't put any points into it.

+1, vision and agility seems to be a popular choice for power backs.

I've trained nothing but vision, jumping and catching for over a season and a half and will continue to do it. By 30 I want to be a decent threat as a receiver and I think I will once vision and catching is around 35.

As for vision helping a power back run, I think it does. Last season with vision in the low 20s, my power back just ran straight ahead right into everyone in his way on long runs. This season with vision 30+ he is actually trying to avoid defenders a bit more.

I know the idea of a power back is broken tackles, but the surest way to break a tackle to avoid defenders completely. I'm not says trying to joke the defender, just run away from them.

True, but avoiding defenders completely is an Elusive HB's purpose. If you wanted to do that, you should just put points into Agility instead of Strength. I don't plan on putting any points into Vision. I think I can break enough tackles by running straight that I will gain some big yards.

Something really weird happened today. This is my Power HB catching a TD pass, and I have always had him set to run on Power running, but look what happens right after he catches the ball- http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=250292&pbp_id=8781159
20.19 vision. Maybe it has more to do with the mechanics of catching the ball, and that's just the way the sim makes the receiver run? That type of swooping motion is common for my WR after he makes a catch but he runs on elusive, I wouldn't expect it from a HB running on power.

I guess that's one way of looking at it, but it's not so black and white to me. It's not just Power backs have to run into defenders, and elusive backs run away from them. Vision and agility can help your HB get more easy yards rather than taking the chance of breaking a tackle, and even if you do break one, it slows you down a lot.

Examples of vision helping:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=211055&pbp_id=7078160

It turned those potential 5-6 yd runs into 15-18 yd runs.

Like sik says: I'd rather break a CB's tackle than a LB's.
