Seriously confused...

Anybody have any idea on what determines playing time for these?

Our team had our starter as FB1 and backup as FB2, and the backup was getting 3-4 times as many plays as the starter.

I switched the starter to FB2 and the backup to FB1 and the playing time swung back to the starter. The starter was also getting more carries/PT as FB2, so it doesn't look like FB2 = blocking FB and FB1 = running FB.

Is there any way to designate one FB as a blocking FB and the other as a runner in AI?

check to see if they play special teams. That seriously depletes energy. It should be possible to designate one as blocking and one as running but it would take a large amount of effort...you'd have to go throw and create a complete game plan basically.

Yes there is. When setting up your play-calling outputs/inputs, set FB1 on the plays where the FB is running the ball, set FB2 on plays where you want the extra blocking power.

I don't even bother with the advanced energy settings for the slots (except HB1, that's where I throw the #3 HB so he gets a few snaps), but my play-book is scripted by down and distance. It's pretty balanced and everyone gets roughly the same playing time.

That's where I'd look first, too. There could also be an issue with your sub-rates and your formations. If your throwing the ball a lot with +3 WR formations (no FB) and running up the score the backups could be coming in sooner in the game and getting more snaps. If you're up by +17 the AI will have you run the ball more to run the clock out. Therefore, your back-up could be getting more snaps.

Of course, that's if you're not digging deep into the AI to correct/compensate for that sort of thing.

Well, being the back-up that dirtbag is speaking of, and knowing the team and such...

We have eliminated the energy settings, and special teams, as we both are on special teams, and the starter has more stamina than the backup (with equal energy settings). This is seemingly a very weird situation. For the sake of clairity, we'll call them Homer and Ox, with Homer being the starter on the depth charts. We began the season with FB1=Homer and FB2=Ox. From game #2 (until we changed positions) Ox was getting the first snaps of the game (when a FB was needed in the formation) even though he is 2nd on the DC and listed as FB2. The starter was not starting. After game #7, we changed FB1 and FB2 slots to see if it made a difference. What we saw, was that Homer still received the majority of the carries (in either position), but Ox lost a lot of his blocking snaps, and only gets one carry per game (at the FB1 position). Now Homer is starting the first play and continuing as what would seem "normal".

Hey there, uh, Ox! (Y'all hear that? We're using code names!)

Homer is 4 levels ahead of Ox; Homer is built more towards rushing (speed, carrying) and Ox's specialty is as a blocker (agility, blocking).

FYI, here are the play totals and rush attempts for FB1 and FB2 in regular season games:
36 plays for FB1, 3 rushes, 23 plays for FB2, 1 rush
24, 3, 46, 1
10, 4, 50, 0
15, 5, 48, 1
16, 1, 31, 0
16, 1, 43, 3
12, 4, 43, 1
switched positions -- Homer = FB2; Ox = FB1
30, 1, 53, 4
16, 0, 36, 6
19, 0, 30, 1

If only there were someone on this team who had access to the actual AI. You guys should name someone assistant offensive coordinator or something.
