I posted this list at the beginning of the season as to who I thought were the top 5 in each conference. To refresh everyone's memory here it is again:

East
Nevada Dice
Chicago Storm
Chicago Commandos
Bud Dry Beer Barons
NJ Revolution (you really think I'd leave us out?)

West
Louisiana Ragin Cajun
Mile High Mustangs (That was a great preseason game BTW)
Memphis Blues
Norfolk Nighthawks
Pac Five Warriors

I wanted to do this after game 8, but thought I would wait until the Revolution and Bootleggers played so that we'd have a definitive top 5 in the east.

Also, besides Pac Five Warriors the lists are accurate.

Good job to all these teams so far. Richmond, I apologize for not recognizing you during the preseason, especially during the first regular season game. That loss still stings a bit.

Not 100% accurate since Memphis is #2 in the west

Yes, the rain are better. But Richmond is better than the rain. We shall find out definitively since they play each other this upcoming week.

I'd put Kentucky over New Jersey. Sure NJ won the head-to-head matchup, but against other opponents Kentucky has looked better. NJ won the turnover battle and that's who usually wins the game. In a game of zero turnovers I'd say Kentucky prevails.

That's a legitimate argument. The only opponent that we've both faced that is better is the Storm. I don't think that is a worthy assessment just yet. They lost 49-17 and we lost 44-6. Both were terrible scores.

Meanwhile against lesser opponents we've put on a show. They gave up 28 to the Georgia Storm, we gave up 0. At the same time, we played terrible against the Saints and Kentucky played great.

After we play the Barons and Kentucky plays the Commandos and Dice we'd have a better assessment.

Margain of victory for Chicago was less against Kentucky than NJ, so I'd give Kentucky the edge in that game as well. You can't put any stock into games against rebuilding, gutted, or CPU teams. I don't even scout against those teams. I just run a pretty vanilla scheme against them, knowing we'll win by triple digits with whatever I choose to run.

The margin of victory was 32-38 in favor of Kentucky. That's one touchdown. If you think that is a better indicator than head to head that is your opinion. Let's agree to disagree.

We could even go further and take your example of turnovers. Chicago scored 10 pts off turnovers on us and 0 off Kentucky. Without those turnovers the margin of victory is 28-32 in favor of the Revolution.

It's all circumstantial. At the end of the season, the Revolution will still be ahead of Kentucky in the standings unless they upset the Commandos or Dice.
