From the beginning, I've intended this WR to be a Speedster. I received a Return Specialist piece of equipment when shopping and now want to focus his development to return kicks/punts.

Speed: 82.11
Agility: 43.89
Jumping: 51.41
Catching: 51.82
Carrying: 23.52
Vision: 34.78
Confidence: 28.52

I have high Speedster Special Abilities including 7 Head Fake.

My immediate focus to improve his return abilities will be to raise his Agility to the 3rd cap at 68, and raise his Vision to the 1st cap at 48. I will probably occasionally add to the Juke SA.

Anyone have any other input on how to build a Kick/Punt Return Specialist? Does confidence help in the return game?

Vision isn't really that useful. It seems as if returns are run on rails sometimes. You'd be better off with more speed and agility, and I'm guessing that spin would be better than Juke.

For sure, you won't really slow down as much on a spin.

I would switch priorities to first raise his Vision to cap, and after that work on Speed (im assuming that's not ur natural speed- u need to get it 3rd capped) , then work on Carrying - as if you notice some things have been changed for returners... High-speed / head-on collisions cause more fumbles now. ( that, combined with the fact that on special teams the outside blockers seem to be speed/agility-nerfed equals a major fuckaroo for returners...)
As far as Vision not being that useful, I am of the mind to PLAN AHEAD. ( Vision is EXTREMELY usefull IRL for returners seeing their gaps to run through and such- and this game will ultimately catch up with that fact) So go ahead and cap it now so you're not saying "wtf" in the future when they finally make Vision really count. LoL

i'd cap agility, then vision, while training carrying and after agility and vision are at caps pump SA's

Or he could just train it for a while so it's at an adequate level... and that along with natural level up bonuses will probably get him a decent amount of vision. Then, by the time any change comes along... He'll just need to dump a level or two's worth of points into the stat to fix his problem. This leaves more points in things that are important to return men now, and ensures that he won't be affected by any sort of change for any more than a couple of games.

Easiest build to do. Take speed up to the 6 cap, train agility until speed is at 6 cap, come back and take agility into the 70s, all EQ should be in speed. Train carrying to softcap and plug the speedster SAs to level 6. Throw in some strength when you have training available.

Returners do a lot of starting and stopping so agility is more important than speed. Vision and carrying are important too.

If you want to end up mediocre.
Speed is the way to go, it shouldn't be less than 4th capped. You shouldn't have anything less than 3nd capped agility as well, but at some point pumping Quick Cut up to 8 becomes a much more affordable substitute. And then between raising agility from 3rd to 4th cap, and spending all those points in vision (for which 1st capping will -not- be enough), that's the route I'd personally take.

What I am doing with my WR KR is working on quick cut and head fake. Most players that play on special teams probably dont have the best vision so I figure that headfake will take advantage of that.

Updating his progression and looking for where to assign Boost SPs.
I was thinking of putting it all in Agility. I know I need to improve my Vision and could use more 1st Step & Quick Cut as well.

Speed:64.05 (88.05)
Agility:50.83
Vision:37.72
Carrying:24.92

Also leaning toward Quick Feet & Slippery for VAs. Any opinion?

vision isn't as important as people make it out to be, for returning kicks.Back when My corner was returning kicks and earning trophies for it, he was lower level and his vision was in the 20's. Go with agility. I don't doubt vision helps. But the help is relatively minor compared to what agility can do for you. And, as said, quick cut is great. First step is good too, it gets up to speed as fast as possible once you catch the kick.

I'm not one to share my opinion often, but seeing as you need a bit of veteran advice I'm willing to help.

Building a good KR/PR requires knowing what it important. That Agility of course as you'll be making tons of cuts.

Here my Lv.41
Speed:62.58 (81.58)
Agility:60.64 (65.64)
Vision:40.91
Carrying:35.7
Confidence:32.24
Catching:43.09 (46.09)

Speedster Abilities
10-9-5-7-5
Additional Abilities
4 useful VA (can't show all my cards out to the public )

As you can see I'm a Speedster Ability freak. I got a 10 is FS, 9 in QC, 7 in Spin and 5 in Head Fake and Juke. Just that Juke is only that high because of my AE, which will soon make it a 6.

My advice to you is just aim to get Agility to hopefully 75-80 or so then you should fine. Just keep speed 5-20 points above it.
