I am a new team owner, and I have just started using the O AI and D AI (after getting my butt kicked repeatedly, lol) I have to O AI down nicely, but I am having trouble with the D AI. I have read all the guides, and I understand everything, I am just not sure how to label the inputs and outputs so I don't get confused with which is which, if anyone can help me a little with what they do to keep it in order, I would appreciate it.

I think its really up to what makes sense to you.
I like to organize them based on situations:
3rd and Long 2WR set
2nd and Short 3WR set
Any Down 5WR Set Med/Long
etc... I then just tailor the output to the team I'm playing
if an opponent always runs on 3rd and short I'll adjust my output
to suit.

If i scout them and I see a tendency that requires a different input to
capture I will modify my base setup.

Thats roughly the way I do my defensive stuff... now is it right? heh
Im sure other people setup differently but it works for me. Ive read
stuff to the effect you should never have more than 1 output per input.
I think thats extreme and I tend to have a few for example
against 3rd and short I may shift and bring a 2 man blitz 10 percent of the time
and play LB Contain 50 percent of the time and play a 3-4 cover 2 run focus the other
40 percent. The point is as long as all of your outputs achieve what you want -
in this case stuff the run and try not to get smoked by a pass etc. then you
should be good to go.
And as all of the guides will tell you its important to be sure your inputs allow
you to always have the proper coverage on the field. The last thing you want
is to have 3 CBs on the field and 5WRs unless you have incredible
pass coverage LBs etc. You also want to be careful about who and from where you
blitz.. I will study the opponent and see where the HB/FB/TE tends to be.
Do they help block? which side usually?

I will tell you that i strongly believe that making inputs based on
formation will burn you frequently and since Bort and crew are constantly
adding new stuff to the playbook, you are building your house on sand if you
count on only certain plays being run from say the shotgun etc.

Ok im done yapping now

Thanks alot, that helps and that is basically what I decided to do.

I set it up for 1st and 10 Run and 1st and 10 Pass, then went to 2nd and short,2nd and Medium and 2nd and Long and so forth, I just had to think about it and wanted to make sure that I had the right idea, once again thanks for the response : )

Well...no problem, but Im not sure how you can have an input "1st and 10 Run"?
i mean certainly it can be named that, but what will you match on? obviously
between downs 1 and 1 so it only gets hit on 1st down and then yard 10 to 10(You may want to
be a bit more flexible here because of penalties 1st and 5, 1st and 15...etc).
Anyways...best of luck just be careful and remember that things are very order
dependent so be sure when youre done to go through all of your situations in the
Def AI tester and verify!

What he said. It's best to setup outputs based on down/distance/formation. You want a section for each, tailored to your next opponent based on the tendencies you see in them in those situations. Bad teams telegraph runs (ie run 85% of the time on first and ten in a 2wr set, pass 80% of the time in a 3wr set, etc) It sucks to scout every play - I'd recommend hiring one
